Believe it or not, this wasp moth is one of the drabber species in the genus - the others have vivid yellow wing markings, and broad bands of metallic blue and red on the body. The Well-coloured name for the genus is appropriate.
The only info I have on diet is for one of the others in the genus, which feeds on Ipomaea (Morning Glory) vines.
