Happy Earth Day, everyone! We love our planet. Check out the link above to calculate your ecological footprint. Did you know...
70% of the planet is covered in ocean, but humans have only explored approximately 5% of it
Coral reefs are constructed from millions of tiny polyps, are the largest living structures on Earth (some are visible from space!), and contain the highest density of life on the planet (even more than rainforests!)
China‘s air pollution is visible from space...but the Great Wall is not
Water on Earth is 97% salted, 3% fresh
90% of rubbish in the ocean is plastic
Earth is the only planet in our solar system without plate tectonics (without them, Earth would overheat)
14% of Earth’s species have been identified
These are just a few of endless things that make our planet unique! Because life on Earth is (so far) not sustainable elsewhere, it is important to play your individual part to reduce your footprint. Just few simple ways to do this:
Take alternatives to driving when possible
Insulate and seal your home
Turn off lights you’re not using
Eat locally-produced and organic food
Reduce water usage (this can be as simple as turning off the water when brushing your teeth!)
Feel free to tell us how YOU are making a difference. We would love to know! Xoxo
