Humanity in my universe is just starting to colonize space. They are far from being united.
There is the Terran League, majorly situated in Africa and Eurasia. The League has colonies on Venus and for of the moons of Jupiter. Beijing is the capital, the League trying to grow in size.
Then there is the Earth-Commonwealth, which controls the rest of the earth, both Americas, Oceania, Antarctica and islands in the sea. The Commonwealth treats its citizens better than the League, but is also bound on expansion. They have colonies on the moon, on Mars, both its moons and on two planets of the Rijl Qanturis system. Capital is Canberra.
The United Confederation, the most humane organisation, has the highest chance to be integrated in interstellar Organisations. Their colonies are on Mercury, numerous moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus, as well as small colonies in the rings of Saturn and Uranus. Furthermore, there are colonies of the Confederation in the Rijl Qanturis system and the panhuman colony on an asteroid in the Thelcis system was initiated by the Confederation. Their ships are the most sophisticated of the humans, but that's not saying much. Capital in on Europa, the Jupiter moon.
Then there are irregulars and rebels, more like pirates and daredevils. The Nurapsis have already spotted then in their home system Sor'Yus. Other than that, humans are rather unknown.
Only the Confederation (formerly known as the Lunar Alliance) is trying to establish interstellar relationships and would have a good chance of becoming a member of the Union of Free People, but the Union requires a united administration of the home system of their members. That is the actual reason for the colony in the Thelcis system.
