Thinking about Halsin teasing Raphael for how red he gets in his human form - that he’s almost as red as his fiendish cambion form

Almost like his brat tamer is spanking the fiend right out of him, leaving the sweet little human behind

I had to hold onto this ask before I set it free because it's just so delicious. Halsin loves proving that Raphael has some mortal humanity in his blood whether he likes it or not.

"Your skin blossoms the same shade of red as your cambion form," Halsin muses. He soothes his giant hand over the curve of Raphael's thoroughly punished backside. And through tears of humiliation and respite, Raphael argues that it simply proves his fiendish lineage.

"I am red beneath the cloak of a noble bard." His voice is but a rasp, unable to find it in him to drawl or purr when he has been suitably tamed for the time being. "Do not mistake such a thing for humanity."

And Halsin simply hums, cupping Raphael's pert backside and giving it a little jiggle (causing a rather undignified squeak to come from Raphael). "To suggest that a fiend has any semblance of humanity is quite laughable, I agree. But the redness of your skin simply means that you have blood like the rest of us. Have bled like the rest of us. And to blush and bleed makes you no different than I."

I know that Halsin despises the city but there is one headcanon that reoccurs in my mind. Halsin and showers.

Despite being one with nature and finding solace in the embrace of the woods, a warm shower after a long day is something that Halsin begins to crave. Warm water cascading down his back. Easing then tension in his shoulders. His hair is softer and healthier. Of course The Emerald Grove had warm baths but standing with his lovers arms wrapped around his waist has become a welcome slice of life.

He isn't a fan of the harsh perfumes and scented oils that come with the city. He would much rather smell of fresh soil and a crisp autumn breeze. But when the weight of the world is on his shoulders, he can count on a warm shower to ease his mind, if only for a moment.

cuddly Halsin. Does he prefer to cuddle in elf or bear form? Does he sleep in bear form *every* night?

OOOOH. Okay, I like to think that he prefers to cuddle in his Elven form because he likes skin on skin contact. Even if he isn't cuddling naked with someone, he likes to feel their warmth. It also gives him the opportunity to feel small. He can be a little spoon, hide his face in someone's bosom and breathe them in. He can't experience that when he's a large bear.

I like to headcanon that if Tav and crew had gone through the mountain pass and encountered snow, that he would wildshape at night to offer them all his body for warmth. Halsin's bear form is extremely intimate and I feel like he doesn't wildshape just for anybody. He only does so in battle, when sexually aroused (I like the allegory of Halsin's bear form during the romance scene equating to premature ejaculation), when trying to keep warm during the winter, and if the children wish to play.

Hi ! I was wondering what do you think Halsin would like about Raphael ? Like what would make him fall for him ?

I definitely think it was unrequited at first. And I don't think that Halsin could ever love Raphael and I am not sure if Raphael is capable of love that comes without possession and obsession. Raphael would be the one to fall for Halsin. I always mention that it felt like a missed opportunity not to have the chance to sleep with Raphael in Sharess' caress (I'd much prefer that to Haarlep any day). But I have also noticed that Raphael doesn't have any dialogue about Halsin... at all? Whereas Halsin has some here.

Given the (rightful) air of caution and disinterest with making deals with devils, I can't rule out Halsin sleeping with one. I feel like Raphael completely missed Halsin being a part of Tav's party given that he tends to the camp until well into Act 2. So imagine his reaction to seeing that beast of an elven druid flanking Tav. Some people have pegged Raphael as a size queen (pun not intended) and I feel like he'd be salivating. Perhaps he is able to convince Halsin for a tryst in the Devil's Den but Halsin is firm about keeping contracts and deals at bay. Raphael is full of himself, he knows this. He plans to take a page out of Haarlep's playbook and seduce Halsin into signing some sort of wayward deal. What he doesn't anticipate is Halsin's stamina and how unselfish of a lover he is. Raphael completely forgets to slip any sort of deal or trick by, and when he limps the next morning with a brilliant ache, he finds himself longing for another night with Halsin.

Borrowing from @transkingcobra 's lovely mini series, part 2 specifically, here, I like to think that Halsin is perfect at bringing out the best in people (even people as heinous as Raphael himself. Lets have some fun with a bit of canon divergence shall we?). Eventually, Raphael's suspicious good deeds start to feel a bit too... genuine. While he still likes to sup on the misfortune of others, Raphael's targets are no longer the innocent and naive but the cruel. He is the son of Mephistophles, the Lord of No Mercy, yet Raphael likes to talk about how merciful he is, what a saviour he can become. Something that does not go unnoticed by Halsin, hence his attempts to manipulate the devil's deeds to the best of his ability.

Though Halsin speaks of nature and balance, he sure likes to meddle in it. I think he would come to like Raphael's genuine interest in justice and vengeance, slowly chipping away at his cold heart and having him aid those less fortunate without realizing it.

Sorry, anon. This ask got away from me. In short, I can see the two being fuckbuddies. Perhaps enemies to friends even. Lovers though? Unfortunately not unless in an AU. I'm open to any interpretations!

I have mixed feelings about this one! I feel like when it comes to Tav and crew, he allows them to lie beside him at night. They can touch his paw and marvel at how huge it is in comparison to their own hand. His paw-pad is rough and cracked and his claws are 4 inches long, glistening under the stars.

He does not wildshape in front of the orphans because he does not want them to become familiar with bears (they are very dangerous after all, and best left alone). Though once in a while they see him shift if he is in battle. If he is giving demonstrations on how to be cautious and respectful of natures creations, he will wildshape and have Tav point to his teeth, claws, and strength.

but oh my goodness-- I am sure that the companions and children have poked his toes and paw-pads while he was in a slumber more than once heheh

Raphael's healing pool vs Halsin's favorite hot spring! Who will be the winner? (both)

You are so right with both

I feel like Raphael and Halsin introduce one another to what they consider the finer things in life. When it comes to Raphael's pool of restoration, he introduces Halsin to essential oils and soaps that turn the water into different, vibrant, colours. Raphael's favourite is pink but he finds himself using a colour deemed more masculine. He uses a gentle sky blue and has Halsin sniff a few different oils and shampoos. It takes Halsin a while to get used to all the new scents and he is allergic to some synthetic ones. He much prefers nature but he won't lie-- the controlled tempertaures of the pool make for a relaxing and comfortable experience. He has almost fallen asleep from Raphael massaging shampoo and conditioner into his scalp.

When it comes to natural hot springs, Raphael is surprised by the little nook Halsin has found. While the Cambion despises the bugs (his fiendish form a natural repellent) he remains in his human form and slowly sinks beside Halsin. While it certainly lacks the immediate relief of restoration, the hot springs slowly ease the knots in his shoulders (with the help of Halsin's skilled hands). With the druid beside him and the privacy of the location, he lets his guard down a little. He even decides to offer a rare favour and goes down on Halsin.

"You can thank natures gifts for that one," he says, wiping his mouth on the back of his hand. While he tries to be condescending, the glimmer of mischief behind brown doe eyes does not go unnoticed by Halsin.

Shadowheart is definitely the same. I feel like she used to wrinkle her nose at the "slimy beasts" until Halsin insisted that they are "simply a delight." To Halsin, a frog has a unique sense of humour and he tries to win Shadowheart over with one of his froggy friends.

She waves and says a timid. "Hello..." only to scream when it hops in her direction

the girlies (me) want to know what halsin’s lil peace offerings to shadowheart were when he was trying to get her to warm up to him. like was he whittling things for her??? giving her snacks??? telling her stories???

If there is one thing Halsin lacks, it's subtlety. He tries many a conversation with Shadowheart in the beginning of their trek-- after all, there was no use in forming rivalries from the get-go. Though he is able to decipher when he is not wanted; given Shadowheart's curt responses and the occasional glare. She is not one for small talk.

Both are at odds, with Shadowheart's path to becoming a dark justiciar and Halsin wanting to beat the Shadowcurse.

So he does what any foreign father would do. When they settle in camp, he is the first to go foraging. He offers her a wooden bowl of fresh blueberries that he had washed in a secluded stream. When his little gestures seem to warm her up, he tries to persuade her to 'see the light' and reconsider her faith in Shar... in which she shuts him down and tells him to 'hug a tree'.

It is only during the gauntlet of Shar where Shadowheart's faith begins to waver-- though she doesn't dare go to anyone for her troubles... she wonders why her Lady won't answer her. Abandoning her faith was as hard as it was traumatizing, though she finds a piece of normalcy in finding a small bowl of fruits outside her tent the following morning... a wooden duck accompanying it.
