Sleepy
“Assonnato” ^O^
Send me a sentence/word in English and I’ll translate it into my language!
I haven't unfriended anyone /yet/ but it was so annoying seeing them glorify the film and a huge percentage were saying "you're only against it because of religion, it's so stupid" as if having a belief of a higher being absolves a person of logic and reasoning.. little do they know the BDSM community absolutely hates it as well. ->Sorry I'm just so pumped because I have to present to the class tomorrow how mass media and society still exploit women because even my teacher doesn't think so.
Sad thing is, I made a post about how it’s abusive on facebook, and one person was like “People really have no idea what good literature is.” And then my super religious aunt commented implying that it’s abusive /because/ it’s BDSM. I just wanted to be like NOOOOOOO. No to both of you. Nonononono.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the writing. People read and enjoy terribly written stories all the time. I’m completely fine with that because I’m not a literary snob. While I do think 50 Shades is poorly written, I wouldn’t give a damn about that if it was the only issue.
And then my aunt… I swear I don’t even know with her. I’ve talked to her about this before and she thinks BDSM is inherently abusive and wrong. I myself am not a member of the BDSM community, but one of my best friends is, so I know a lot about it. And I know that there is nothing abusive about practicing BDSM so long as both partners have set, agree to, and actually do respect the boundaries.
My issue with it is that it unapologetically portrays an abusive relationship as God’s gift to women. It romanticizes domestic abuse by wrapping it up in a sexy bow and intentionally ignoring the problematic aspects. See, I have nothing wrong with abusive relationships being portrayed in literature and media so long as the dangers and damage are portrayed along with it. But when an abusive relationship is masked and portrayed as healthy and desirable, I want to throw up at the thought of how many actual humans will be abused in the name of this story. It’s terrifying really.
(Btw, good luck with your presentation!! I hope you turn your teacher’s view upside-down!!)

I am kind of crazy about Habits by Tov lo for some reason the song keeps sticking with me. It’s kind of a relief, because the last song that was lodged in my head was the piano tune from up. That was freakingsad.
