Visually I liked the idea of James becoming a sort of apparition to Lucy after their divorce. A type of ghost that has faded away, corporeally existing in her mind but always seeming to haunt her in a deeply tragic way. A melancholic reminder of the painful past and the metaphoric death that a relationship can cause for your visual representation of a person and the way you see them after the relationship has died. Lucy’s biggest fear is of becoming that ghost herself.
