One of the all time worst tech products ever made
Blast from the past. A :cuecat. Released on 2000, the whole idea was that you used it to scan a barcode and it would take you to a specific url. It was a complete and utter failure.
If you’re late to the last party, you’d better figure out how to be early to the next one.

Amazon’s Magic Wand and the Unrelenting Race to Make Shopping More Convenient
The most recent one is Amazon Dash — a thin, wand-like device, revealed on Friday, that includes both a microphone and a barcode scanner. Speak into it or scan a box of cereal or pack of toilet paper to automatically add that product to your AmazonFresh shopping list. For now, it is available only on a trial basis to Amazon customers in San Francisco and Los Angeles who pay for Amazon’s new Prime Fresh membership, which includes grocery delivery.

Just finished adding and tagging all the books and graphic novels I bought on vacation into my Librarything account. So glad I bought a cuecat all those years ago! It really made quick work of entering everything!
Everything I entered brings me up to 600 (!!!) books even, and 149 graphic novels. Holy cow.
