There is always one Araucária tree in the illustration. Sometimes it is easy to spot it, sometimes it isn’t.

It’s also the name given to a vessel, a hollow calabash gourd, used to drink maté in the South of Brazil.

Cuia pequena (2025). Santarém, Pará, Brasil. Essa fruta ainda está pequena (do tamanho duma maçã) . Quando grande, pode ficar do tamanho duma melancia e serve para fazer tigelas artesanais. Essas tigelas levam o nome da fruta - cuia - e são parte importante da cultura santarena.

Small calabash (2025). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. This fruit is still small (the size of an apple). When it grows large, it can be the size of a watermelon and is used to make handcrafted bowls. These bowls are named after the fruit - calabash - and they are an important part of the culture of Santarém.
