Planta na beira do igarapé (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brasil. Por aqui onde moro, essa planta é chamada de Juá, que dá nome ao igarapé; mas essa planta não tem nada a ver com o Juá/Juazeiro da caatinga, que é uma árvore bem mais frondosa.

Plant by the stream (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Where I live, this plant is called Juá, which is also the name of the stream; but it has nothing to do with the Juá (or Juazeiro) of the Caatinga, which is a much leafier tree.

Fruta desconhecida (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brasil. Ela é parecida com um cupuaçu, mas o tamanho é bem menor, daí desconfio que seja um cacauí ou um cupuí ou alguma outra fruta do gênero Theobroma.

Unknown fruit (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. It resembles a cupuaçu but is much smaller in size, so I suspect it is a cacauí, or a cupuí, or some other fruit of the Theobroma genus.

Escada submersa (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brasil. Durante o período de seca, essa escada que ficaria na beira do igarapé; mas no período de cheia, ela praticamente some debaixo d'água.

Submerged staircase (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. During the dry season, this staircase sits at the edge of the stream, but during the flooding season, it practically disappears underwater.

Aranha de seis pernas (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brasil. Infelizmente não sei que espécie é essa (talvez seja uma aranha-de-teia-amarela ou alguma outra do gênero Trichonephila), mas obviamente a aranha tinha oito pernas, mas duas delas se perderam de algum jeito.

Six-legged spider (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Unfortunately, I don't know what species is that (maybe it's a golden silk spider or any other from the genus Trichonephila), but obviously the spider had eight legs, but two of them were somehow lost.

Igarapé do Juá (2026). Santarém, Pará Brasil. Foto tirada em abril, quando os igarapés e rios da Amazônia estão cheios; a mata perto da margem é engolida pelas águas e forma o que chamamos de várzea. Nesse caso, nem dava de ver onde estava a outra margem. Tem mais, essa foto foi tirada de uma estrutura de madeira construída justamente para se chegar na beira do igarapé durante a seca, e andar por cima das águas nos meses de cheia. O igarapé estava tão cheio que eu andei por uns cem metros sobre as águas até chegar na "beira" do igarapé. As águas desse igarapé (e da maioria dos igarapés) são naturalmente barrentas assim mesmo.

Juá creek (2026). Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Photo taken in April, when the streams and rivers of the Amazon are full; the forest near the bank is swallowed by the waters, forming what we call a floodplain. In this case, it wasn't even possible to see where the other bank was. Furthermore, this photo was taken from a wooden structure built precisely to reach the edge of the stream during the dry season, and to walk on top of the water during the flood months. The stream was so full that I walked about a hundred meters above the waters to reach the "edge" of the stream. The waters of this stream (and most streams) are naturally muddy like this.

Esse videoclipe para a música Atravancamento, do Coletivo 91, acabou de se tornar meu segundo vídeo a ter mais de 1000 visualizações no YouTube! Ele "viralizou" nos últimos dias por algum motivo; ele tinha só umas 250 visualizações alguns dias atrás.

This music video for the song "Atravancamento" by Coletivo 91 has just become my second video to surpass 1000 views on YouTube! It went "viral" in the last few days for some reason; it only had about 200 views a few days ago.
