cultura
Last year I flew into Mexico City. I fell in love with the city, la gente, and la cultura. This is what I took from it.
1. They love to feed you. There are unimaginable options of food, from vegan to 50 pesos meals. They embrace the flavors of other cultures and use a variety of spices & herbs.
2. The roots from the native fathers is still embedding into the modern culture. Ruins are open the public for a great history lesson. The pyramids of Teotihuacan; looking out towards The Pyramid of the Moon.
3. Architecture. One of my favorite parts about Mexico City was the architecture. I mean just look at this!
4. We love art. I mean "we" because I consider myself a part of them. Long lines are formed outside the museums. People wait hours just to get access. On Sundays, all Mexican citizens get free entry to certain museums and other can get discounted prizes. I was lucky enough to get into el Palacio de Bellas Artes for free because I am Mexican but what they didn't know is that I'm a U.S. citizen.
5. La gente. Everyone is friendly and happy. Yes! They do say be safe but honestly, a little common sense goes a long way. Don't go in areas you're not suppose to go. If you don't feel safe, leave. Overall, good vibes won't deceive you. Stay only where people are friendly!
