I can understand the position of "do not claim that those who would hate/harm you deserve your kindness". However, another way of looking at this is "do not claim that those who would hate/harm you are neither ignorant nor ill" and "aid is a better catalyst for good change than punishment is".
Look, I’m all about helping people who are in need of help. But there’s a point where that stops. That’s at the point where that help is misused. My nephew and his wife are users. Any help my mother and sister have attempted to give them has been misused. Any money is automatically spent on drugs/junk food. Any gifts given to them are either returned to the store or re-sold/pawned.
Gifts given to their daughters are also taken and returned to the store or re-sold. That is to say, birthday and Christmas gifts given to these two young children. One is barely a year old. My nephew and his wife are /not/ the only two drug addicts in the world. Not the only two /I/ have had the misfortune of having to deal with.
My mom allowed a drug addict to live with us for a time. He was hiding heroin and meth around our house. Another addict is the reason i don’t have a brother. If my brother were still alive my own life probably wouldn’t be /half/ as miserable as it is. Drugs and those who peddle and use them are nothing but the most base garbage. Marijuana is one thing. But the instant a person goes past that, they deserve no empathy.
