I wish I could record her she’s quite the trainwreck.
For the very first class she had us take a personality quiz and then introduce ourselves and apparently we have a total of one extrovert who doesn’t feel shy about talking with a group and then there’s me and one more person on team ‘introvert but likes a good discussion/argument‘ and it’s the three of us carrying each and every class so far. She had a major breakdown about that because ‘she feels unwelcome in this class because we are all so cold, nobody is talking‘.
It’s awkward, not cold. It’s a lot of self conscious people who’d rather listen than talk sitting in a room, what did you expect, lady? And by the time we get our respective little groups to warm up a little and start talking she’s shuffling the groups around again.
And when it’s the three of us together we are usually in agreement (or agree to disagree and postpone the discussion after the class because you can’t possibly discuss stuff in 3 fucking minutes) so we don’t talk a lot either.
Also so far the tally: 2-3 queer people, 2 homophobes, 4 people who say they are allies in theory but never ever bothered to look into anything LGBT related (”if LGBT people are oppressed it's bad because it really hurts their confidence” is legit something one of them said) and 3 people who actually know what being an ally is about.
