(ALSO NOAH BLOG TITLE. HI. HELLO. BELOVED)
I may have gotten a little carried away.
7. …has a physical disability.
Oh, boy, did you pick the right one. As someone that chronically has Every Disease (I jest) and likes looking up chronic illnesses, some of my characters ended up with a few physical issues. I originally wasn't going to touch on them but I got tired of disabled characters (even written by disabled folks) existing just to be disabled tokens with no identity outside of what's wrong with them.
For CoD, I have Alex, Nadia, Joanne, and Elizabeth. Alex and Nadia are mother and daughter so they share some issues (gotta love genetics.) Nadia has chronic migraines, epilepsy, a form of dysautonomia, and a neurodegenerative disease that I made up because I wanted to pull from a lot of different conditions (it's based off of ataxia and MS.) Alex has migraines, fibromyalgia, and the same neurodegenerative disease she inherited from her mother. Joanne develops Huntington's disease later in life (she dies because of issues secondary to but still caused by it.) Elizabeth is almost completely deaf in one ear due to an explosion she got caught in. She's also missing a chunk of her hip from that same incident and experiences chronic pain and migraines as well.
My singular M*A*S*H OC, Faye, develops multiple sclerosis (I wanted Hawkeye to have a problem he couldn't fix. for Reasons.)
My Genshin OC Mayim/Maya suffers from the fictional disease introduced in the game called Eleazar. Like the other canon sufferers she's cured of it later on, but I headcanon that once the source of the disease was eliminated that didn't mean that the progressive nature of the condition didn't leave lasting damage to their bodies.
As for some non-fandom characters, Brian was discharged due to a TBI that left him prone to seizures, as well as an injury that did a number on his knee and caused him to need surgery. And Celeste has a yet undecided chronic illness, but whatever I choose I already know she needs mobility aids to get around.
8. …has a mental disability.
Sophie is my resident traumatized girl. Technically the characters I mentioned above (Alex, Nadia, and Elizabeth at least) have some flavor of mental illness, but I'll pick someone I haven't mentioned. She suffers from very severe PTSD and depression, as well as a touch of my own OCD.
Quinn also has some form of...something. It's anybody's guess since the CIA covered it up for her and she's mostly stable now.
Another Genshin OC since I'm missing them apparently. Luna collects literally anything from shiny rocks and oddly shaped twigs to literal bones she's found in the woods. And swords and knives. She LOVES swords and knives. One of my mutuals called her a little magpie a good while ago so that's her constellation and inspiration now lol.
Eden collects seashells and postcards. Joanne also collects postcards but typically ones that Mason has sent her while he's away.
As for non-fandom characters, Jordanna (another Pleasant Valley character, or at least PV-adjacent...she exists in the universe, no idea how important she is yet but she does appear) is my bio-nerd and typically collects bones, moss samples, rocks, and pine cones so she can play around with them in her free time.
13. …has a different native language than you.
Claire, Nadia, Mikhail, Kyrill, Alexei and his mother Natalya are my go-to examples for this. All of them have Russian as their native language (well, Natalya has both Russian and Ukrainian, she was raised speaking both since her mother was Ukrainian.) Granted Claire and Mikhail were taught English growing up in the KGB (and the agencies that preceded it.) There's also Eden, whose native language is Hebrew.
Quinn is another dual-language speaker because of her heritage. She was born in Vietnam and that was the primary language she spoke for a portion of her childhood, so I'm going to say that's her native tongue. Sticking with CoD I'm also going to tentatively say Joanne could potentially count as well, depending on your perspective. She technically is a native English speaker but she was brought up speaking both English and the Lower Tanana language (like her mother and her uncle and cousins.) They're kind of both her native/first languages?
Also there's the AC OCs, such as Emma my beloved whose native language is Belkan aka Totally Not German. And technically Roland and Samantha by extension (Naomi was taught it as a second language.)
As for non-fandom, Brian and Talia's father's native language is Spanish.
21. …has changed a lot from their original design.
Honestly? Probably my Genshin OCs. Amaryllis and Saskia especially, since the others were pretty finalized from the beginning. I don't publicly play with designs anymore and my characters for other fandoms as well as my original characters are very grounded and easy to decide on in comparison.
Amaryllis was originally very plain...she had peach hair rather than pastel pink, blue eyes (that hasn’t changed), but she was a bit of a proud, jaded criminal rather than a reluctant mercenary. She was also an Electro (lightning) user rather than an Anemo (wind) character. She eventually evolved into the sweetheart she is today. Compassionate, strong-willed, eager to do the right thing, struggles with her faith and tries to run from the past but she eventually gets a chance to rest. A much softer character that complimented Kaeya better than before.
As for Saskia, I can still find the terrible picrews I made when I was working on her. She was originally a white-haired, blue-eyed cryo user and now she's brown haired, amber eyed, and a pyro user. Very big shift in her color palette there lol.
