      This is said with a flick of a smoldering cigarette, sitting by the back door. Please, just leave the boy alone,

“-Shit.” …Even if Cuphead’s boots hadn’t been sticking out from beneath the curtains, he’s sort of given the game away by talking, hasn’t he?

The jig is up, so he budges over and peeks out, giving Kettle his best ‘kicked puppy’ look to try and weasel his way out of trouble. He’s still stubbornly holding onto the sword he’d pulled down from the wall. “…I just wanted to look at it…”

  Elder Kettle rarely glares, but the look he puts on his brass face could be called one, blowing out a short puff of steam as he sets his eyes on Cuphead. 

      He chooses to ignore the barely hidden curse for the moment - he’s definitely learned you can’t win ‘em all with Cuphead - and instead strolls over with one hand extended, prepared to make the boy hand the sword back over himself instead of pulling it out of his hand.

       “I’m sure you did. And if you had asked, my boy, I would’ve let you.”

“An’ I don’t wanna hear it!!” Cup squeaks. The way he flinches every time Beppi steps forward gives away that he barely mustered the backbone for that retort. He’s about to start running.

    “Awwwwwwwwwwwww, Cuphead!”

He’s about to give up on the boy. But not quite yet! Beppi takes a step to the side - 

      And puts himself right in front of Cuphead, cartoon logic style.

   “Hey! Where ya going, buddy? That’s not very nice to you.”

                   “Hey! Cuphead,” Elder Kettle calls out. “Ohhhh, Cuphead,” he calls again, and then finds himself snickering.

              He’s on the roof for some reason. He slides down it slightly, apparently having picked up some agility somewhere, and just hangs his legs off the edge, stopping there and snickering again. A small puff of dark black smoke makes it’s way out of his spout, and he’s smiling down at the boy as he approaches, although it’s missing every bit of Elder Kettle-trademarked gentleness the boy’s used to. Instead, Kettle looks almost like a comic villain - deep purple bags beneath his eyes, beady red pupils staring down, idly kicking his legs.

He's swinging his cane into a hand like a bat.
