Conference "Prussian Colonial Heritage. Sacred Objects and Human Remains in Berlin Museums“ on Oct 14/15, 2017 at the Centre Francais de Berlin. part of 1. Panel ‘Perspectives from Berlin’: Noa Ha and Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung in conversation about “Interrupting Colonialities of Curatorial Practices”.
It was such an honor being part of this amazing conference, being in conversation with Bonaventure and towards the end... to hold and share the silence because of the unutterable pain of the present.

"Art makes us happy. Young children explore materials and ideas."
Happy 2016!
I'm thrilled to say that my latest book, "Art makes us happy. Young children explore materials and ideas" is now ready and available.
This book is based on the art exhibition I curated last Spring featuring my young students' artwork. It includes essays about digital materials as curatorial tools, the process of curating an art exhibition of young children's work, and children's artistic statements, photos, plus much more.
A big thank you to Sean, Hannah, Matt, and all Rita Gold Center teachers and staff for all their help! The book is available here. Thoughts and feedback are most welcome. Thank you!
Summer Writings, Fall Conferences!
As summer writings proceed, good news come in for the fall. It'll be a busy season and I'll be presenting at a number of events including London International Conference on Education. In LICE I'll be talking about digital materials as curatorial tools in a paper called “Are you gonna see me flying now?” Digital media as curatorial and educational tools with young children exhibiting their artwork. Here's my abstract:
The use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Quick Response Codes (QR) as curatorial tools is discussed in this paper, focusing on an art exhibition exhibiting works by young children in a professional gallery setting. After introducing the context for this annual exhibition as part of an early childhood center’s art program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, this paper explores potential uses of these technologies to enhance visitor experience and increase the presence and impact of the artists’ voices. The goal of using this kind of technology is not contained in itself but, on the contrary, is set in the kind of artistic, learning, and emotional experiences it allows and encourages. Connecting ideas and concepts from curatorial, educational, and artistic perspectives, this presentation bestows discussions and conclusions relevant to the fields of art and early childhood education.
The project explores the exhibition space as place and part of collective creation of knowledge. It focuses on the aesthetic experience as an epistemic practice, present both in the production of art and in its reception, during which the researching process of art continues. A screenplay constellation is used as a research method to perform the object of research (the exhibition space) as well as the research itself. Thus, production, execution, and presentation of the research process and of its results are intertwined.
