re-visiting the Story Time power ups! starting with Cure Crown!

the power up is based on ice skating, so they all get skates, and their animal features get enhanced :)

Been tidying up my oc Cure Crown from Verdant Earth Precure (first next, second prev vers)(Plus bonus series plot development below!):

Before on the left, after on the right. Normal & power up forms, now including their partner pouch.

The cape's more of a cape: they still use it as camoflage, but I vividly imagined Cure Crown posing and running round with a little white-edged cape, so that's now a thing. I also tidied up the decoration on the body of her outfit. It's a lot prettier now.

I also changed her wrist braces: they're much more of a callback to previous precure teams.

The idea of the simplification of the main form was to make it easier to emulate. I might also try out putting her in green welly/hiking boots to make this a more practical fit.

(Here's a bonus under the cut reminder of why I don't draw in the faces bc it hits uncanny valley so hard for me it's ridiculous)

The power up outfit still should have the level of detail in the wings as before, but that's from a seperate edit so that hasn't carried across.

Separately, I have been developing the villain for this series: Daeya, a massive malevolent dark masked deer-like entity that was trapped by the fairies of the forest kingdom long ago. It is the personification of greed itself, and seeks to devour the Earth and all worlds (if it can break free of its mask).

When some of the fairies of the Forest Kingdom escaped to Earth, Daeya couldn't follow, but could see the feast on the other side- and the danger, so he has been sapping the energy of the 11-18 yo's in Hanara, the place the fairies landed in, so they couldn't become precure. So they had to recruit younger (10yo) cures. Mimori (Cure crown) finds that her older sister is sluggish, and not like herself, threatening her chances of passing the exam to get into the highschool she wants. She vows to save her sister's dream.

Hanara is a large town almost split into two by a river: One side dedicated to numerous shrines and the deer that are sacred to them, and the other side of a thousand flowers: an area with numerous flower shops and flower displays, always at odds with the intruding deer. Mimori's parents run a flower shop in this half of town. The split is a constant source of conflict amongst the older townspeople. New vs old, etc.

There are hanging baskets of flowers everywhere in Hanara.

The monsters of the week are Daeamons, (Day-ya-mons) and bear the same type of rough wooden mask that Daeya does. They are born from people's greed.

It’s a reimagining of a character she’s working on, I just really wanted to draw it like romantic/impressionist/painterly, so she got slight alterations.
