Some Celestial Pretty Cure doodles because it's been several months and I kinda sorta feel like it's been long enough and maybe it's okay for me to work on a fanseries again.

I re-did Cure Sol's skirt because it looked too simple, and gave her longer hair so Mirror's gargantuan braid wouldn't look strange. And then I re-did Stella's skirt because it looked too ridiculous. Btw, this is the first time I've ever posted a picture of Cure Stella on my tumblr, isn't it? By the time I got around to drawing Cure Mirror, I ran out of patience with my tablet. Also Mirror is the odd one out because she has a covered midriff xD

Last but not least the brown doodle is Hinata (Sol's civilian form). She has social issues.

So let's review what I've decided about Cure Sol so far

She's 14

Her birthday is in the summer (July, most likely)

has a younger sister

 who is somewhere between 9 and 11 years old

 I'm leaning towards 11

insecure about herself

friendly but sometimes overbearing

really sarcastic

might have a somewhat grating personality?

but only if you've gotten to know her

because otherwise she's really shy

hair tied back in a ponytail

Or maybe a bun? but not a partial bun

 somewhere between brunette and ginger

 I planned her as a ginger because that was a trend in PreCure for so long but now I kind of want her to be brunette??

Her Cure form is definately a ginger, though

is a transfer student

who joins a sports team because she wants to be more athletic

I really want that to be lacrosse because the only sports I actually know a decent amount about actually playing are lacrosse and field hockey because I played those two sports

and lacrosse is 100 times more cool than field hockey in my opinion

but what if people think she's a rip-off of Nagisa because of that?

It's no secret that I <3 Nagisa and that doesn't help my case

Not to mention most characters I write have some facet of me in them?

and since Nagisa is my spirit animal

my characters may seem like Nagisa rip-offs

but her true talent lies in art

I'm worried she sounds like a copy of Mai???

with Nagisa's personality though

her hairstyle isn't helping

Mai wears her hair in a bun though

I swear I didn't intend it that way

she's the "pink" cure of her team despite being yellow her powers come from the sun also her transformation device looks like a compact

 which doesn't look anything like a Smile Pact

I'm serious about that

it really looks nothing alike other than the fact it's a compact

 it doesn't work like a Smile Pact either

 I haven't decided if the device is given to her by her mascot (ala Ai-chan) or if the mascot IS the device (ala Mepple, Flappi, or Charles) It works using "Cure Tokens"

 There are actually three varieties of henshin tokens

more on that later

 Speaking of mascots, her mascot's name is Miki

 ...at least I wanted it to be

then I remembered Aono Miki from Fresh Precure

and since I want my fanseries to be as authentic as possible, no name repeats for major characters are allowed

 Speaking of names, I'm having trouble naming her civilian form

 I want her first name to be the one that matches her Cure name

I have like 7 names I've come up with?? 

but they all have issues

here they are:

Akira: makes me think of cheesy practice sentences from Japanese I because that was the default name

Haruka: Nanase Haruka jokes

Haruko: Possibility, but has too hard of a sound

Haruna: Sounds like an older woman or someone who is mature, calm, and composed, which Sol is not

Hinata: ...makes me think of certain rabid Naruto fans...

Youko: Possibility, but Nagisa's voice actor has this name, and also it sounds funny when paired with other names

Teruko: It doesn't really sound much like a name!?

So you see the problem...HELP!

Uggggh Cure Sol is giving me design problems

She’s the pink Cure of her team, but is first and foremost a yellow/gold Cure.

Also she’s got a bad case of “didn’t copy but looks like it’s copied”. Sol’s an combination of one of my older Cure designs (Cure Shine, the yellow/orange Cure with Sun powers from Reflection Pretty Cure) and an original magical girl design (Golden Maestro—I never got anywhere with this one, but she’s where Cure Sol’s character design originated from) but somehow she ended up looking like she has Cure Black’s outfit, Cure Bloom’s hair, and Cure Rosetta’s color scheme.

I didn’t intend it that way, but she ended up that way…
