White Veil stood proudly even through the war between Celestia, Cadance, Nightmare Moon, Yew, the Vamponies and the Underground. The sprawling mansion looked to be a thin of paradise among all the pillaging and plunder brought about by wartime conflict and these desperate measures.
Why then were so few running to this obvious beacon of light in dark of light? Even the windows shone lights at night as if the welcome travelers trying to escape the bloodshed outside.
A small herd of ponies ran from vamponies snapping at them in the sky. Two mares and one stallion fell before the door of White Veil and clanged the knocker to get in. One of the mares gasped when the door opened. The other pointed out that the vamponies in the sky turned the other way and left them alone once they stepped upon the mansion’s soil.
With the door to the mansion opened, the three strangers poked their heads in and looked around. They trotted in and called out for a host or hostess but found nothing.
“Hello...?” called out a pink mare. “Is anypony here? We’re sorry to intrude but we’re being chased by vampires. Please could we stay for the night--”
She turned to find her two peers missing from her side. The stallion had wandered into the hallway when he thought he saw a servant and went to grab for them. Instead all he found was an empty dark hallway. When he turned back around there was more empty dark hallway.
The other mare found herself in a parlor room that led to a sculpture garden. Young mares in various sewing poses. She found curious. She looked at them and did not she the gloved hoof behind her that had sharpened claws at the end of it, reaching for her mane.
In the front room where the pink mare stood she heard her friends scream.
But she would not find them that night.
