Something that really pisses me off
My whole life, people have been telling me "You're just like your mother."
"You look just like your mother." No, I look just like me.
"You'll end up just like your mother." Trying to use her to insult me.
"Shut up, Jay." Using her to insult others.
"Everyone knows you're just going to get pregnant out of highschool, just like your mother, so." said to me when I was 16? 17? by my mother's sister.
I've had one male friend tell me, blatantly, and to my face "You are going to grow up to be just like your mother one day."
I've had one male friend call my mother a bitch to my face.
I've had another male tell me "I can see you ending up as a spinster."
It really pisses me off that, regardless of what I've accomplished by myself, that I have only ever be thought of as a copy of someone else. An assumption. An uncontrollable and hard girl. Not my own person.
I guess the only thing left to do is shove it in their faces by succeeding.
