Though she'd be loathe to admit it, she's more focused on the small, chunky, breadlike animal at the other's heels than she is on the man himself: after all, she'd only really seen something like that -- ostensibly a dog of some small breed or other -- in photos and videos. People here have had them too, but none that she's ever gotten so close to, and despite where she works...she hasn't seen any at the cafe.
"If I may ask...what kind of dog is your friend? We had very few animals at all where I'm from..."
