“Blehhhhh. Can't I stay hydrated with coffee or something sweeter?” Satoru knows he shouldn’t protest this much; he should be grateful that his best friend in the entire world is deigning to take care of him while he’s sick, but another part of him feels like being a total child about it. After all, the process of getting better doesn’t have to be suffering. He’s craving sweets (as usual) and he thinks he deserves to be spoiled when he’s at his most vulnerable. The logical side of him knows that coffee will only dehydrate him and make his cough worse, but the illogical, childlike side of him still protests: “I want coffee.” Satoru, despite that, takes the steaming cup from Suguru and sips at the brim of the mug. His throat, sore from all the coughing he’d been doing that day, immediately feels better having the warm herbal tea wash over it, though he’d never say that he was feeling better already from it. No, he’s a lot more difficult than that! “If you care about me and love me, you’ll make me coffee next.” If Suguru cared and loved Satoru, he wouldn’t be listening to his suggestions at all…

“ Oi, there you are! ” Gojo’s voice is louder than necessary as he plops down beside Suguru, crossing one leg over the other and resting an arm over the back-lean of the seat.

“ I thought we were supposed to hang out. What have ya been up to, Suguru? ”

❝ um... i did a bunch of research on depression and other things like that, and it started to make sense why you haven't been able to eat. so — ❞ she cuts herself off for a moment, rummaging in her schoolbag before pulling out a capped shaker cup. ❝ brought you a smoothie. hopefully it's a little easier to get down? it's got all the good stuff in it. ❞

she sets it on the bench between them, pulls her legs up to her chest to rest one cheek on the tops of her knees. ❝ you can't keep going like this, geto. you know that, right? you're my friend. i'm not going to let you waste away. ❞

     the   monotony   of   everyday   life   weighed   heavily   'pon   slender   shoulders,   which   already   shouldered   the   heavy   expectations   of   her   clan.   day   after   day,   cleaning   up   these   messes   left   by   humans   who   were   not   even   aware   of   it.   were   she   a   better   person,   perhaps   the   sinking   feeling   of   failure   would   not   have   ignited   such   an   intense   feeling   of   injustice   &&   rage.   blood-stained   hands   curled   into   fists,   her   teeth   ground   together   as   she   struggled   with   where   to   put   these   feelings.   dulled   amber   apathetically   studied   the   bloody   scene   before   her,   lips   pressed   into   a   thin   line   before   an   exhausted   sigh   escaped   her.    

     never   before   had   hyeon   been   so   relieved   to   be   alone   on   a   mission.   with   suguru   gone,   the   burden   of   higher-level   missions   fell   to   her   &&   the   other   upperclassmen.   at   times   she   hated   him   for   leaving   them,   for   they   not   only   had   to   deal   with   gojo's   breakdown   but   with   the   added   responsibilities   &&   distrust   by   the   upper   echelon   of   jujutsu   society.   yet   she   missed   him   terribly   in   the   same   breath.   though   she   never   hoped   to   share   the   relationship   he   had   with   gojo,   they   had   been   close. 

     she   was   so   lost   in   her   introspection   that   she   almost   missed   the   soft footsteps   behind   her.   dark   lashes   fluttered   as   her   eyes   slid   shut,   a   soft   scoff   escaped   at   the   recognition   of   whose   cursed   energy   brushed   against   her   own.

     ❝   were   you   following   me,   darling   ??   a   must   admit   that   i'm   flattered,   but   a   text   would   have   sufficed.   ❞   hyeon   turned   toward   the   intruder,   eyes   sliding   open   once   more.   her   head   canted   to   the   side   as   she   quietly   studied   the   man,   noting   the   differences   since   she'd   last   seen   him.

"Whatever you do, don't scratch."

Shoko hovers both hands over his upper spine. A circular white glow engulfs her palms and the deep flesh wound beneath them. Low wet popping sounds eminate from the injury. As it heals, uncomfortable itching crawls within, as typical for RCT.

As she heals him, Shoko frowns. Eyes harden at the sight of her beaten, bloodied friend.

"You ask me not to worry, and yet you've been reckless." She answers, her voice seeping with concern despite its assertive tone. Shoko can feel herself losing her composure. The tenderness she usually imbues is slipping away. Haibara's death had taken hold of her too, and the grief was influencing her character.

"Your injuries get worse every mission. You're a special grade sorcerer. That shouldn't be happening. You give me the same answer every trip and expect me not to worry?"

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in an attempt to collect herself. A deep inhale enters her nose, then a mindful focus on the air that fills her lungs, and lastly, the slow exhale leaves her nose. The tension melts away, and her voice molds into a soothing manner of speech.

"Geto, when you speak, you sound soulless. The bag under your eyes have bags of your own. They look darker now that you're losing color on your skin. Cheeks are sunken. And I know you're not eating, Geto. You look like the undead."  The wound heals halfway. Brown eyes soften at his oily clumpy locks and slumpy body language. Geto looked like exhaustion personified. "You can't lie to a doctor-to-be. We're trained to be observant. Talk to me, Geto. -Oh, and by the way, you make for a terrible liar. Dont even try."

sometimes he wonders if life is on EASY MODE, a game that they could breeze through with ease. it's the way the two of them had finished their mission with more time to spare than most, a curse that couldn't quite make it's stand against the dynamic duo. they were the strongest together & gojo doesn't hesitate to believe in that. hands take the time to rest against his neck as he eyes the other. ❛ suguru, wanna have some fun ? ❜ a grin spreads across his glossy lips before thinking of what they could do. they were in osaka, a place gojo had never explored. ❛ we could grab souvenirs for ourselves and shoko, ❜ he suggests since he doesn't quite want to get back to their dorms. gojo could use a little break from yaga & his demands, or the fact that their teacher wouldn't hesitate to use force on him.

he's quick to reach for geto's arm before trying to get the raven-haired boy to indulge in is antics. not that they were, he just wanted a nice, normal day with his best friend.
