[Actually, no disrespect meant, but I think I'll back away from this kidnapping thing before it really gets anywhere. My headcanons about how Ash would respond to anyone harming her children or trying to take them away from her (in any verse) would require a plot of this sort to be carefully planned out among all parties ahead of time, not just going off of an ill-advised dash-comm.

It's so stupid, but someone was talking about the end-of-year-exams getting canceled in Book the Second and saying "lol those fifth/seventh years aren't going to have their OWLS/NEWTS lol" and it's like no. No. Those are not "end of year exams". Those are given by the state, as near as we can tell. Those do not fall under the same banner as end of year exams. It's the difference between finals and the graduation test- you can exempt a final for good performance, but not the graduation test.
