                                                SECRET. When Sonny knew he needed cash if he was going to go through with his plan to run away, he stole an envelope of money that the Freese family had spent years saving up to pay for recent renovations to the ice cream shop. He knew he would’ve had a clearer conscience if he tried to steal some funds from richer families like the Archers, and he knew the Freeses would spend years paying it back and recovering from the bad PR around town — and it seems like they’re still trying to bounce back to this day. But, he also knew the softhearted Scott would be the easiest to take advantage of— the most likely man in town to trust his daughter’s friends around his money, not suspect Sonny, not pursue the burglar, and lay down and take it when he lost his money. He stole the cash with enough buffer time for the heat to die down before he finally left Cherry, and gave the bulk of it to Odessa to cover the expenses of moving him into her home.

                                             BIOGRAPHY.

Class clown. Ne’er-do-well. No-good loud-mouthed hyper-active smartass who needs to wear his helmet with that damn skateboard. Sonny was always the court jester of the school. He would thumb his nose at figures of authority — including the more popular and powerful members of his own friend group. Though it was much more playful and harmless in the case of someone like Harvey, he showed a pretty open disdain toward people like Lux or Elaine, for one reason: he mostly liked or disliked people based on how they treated his high-strung and haunted twin sister, Libby Logan.

No one needs to be reminded that things were always tense in the Logan household, but Sonny never made it easier for anyone. He didn’t have the complacency to watch the mistreatment of his sisters. An early childhood friendship with a spitfire like Zahra Jackson inspired him to stand up for himself, and he had a lifelong habit of talking back and keeping Glenda in a wrathful mood. 

His relationship with Sabrina was always volatile, his feelings towards her fluctuating between aggrievement and compassion depending on how cruel or doting Glenda was towards her on that given day, but it was ultimately loving. He would just never be as close to her, or anyone else, as he was with Libby. 

He took his role as the older twin, only brother, and bravest, most wicked-gnarly and badass rebel in the family to play the hero for his sisters, jumping in front of bullets whenever he could, using his own brazenness for good. If Libby got a bad grade on an art project, he would skateboard through the house and break a lava lamp to make sure his mom’s rage was focused on him more than her. He would try to take the fall for Libby setting off the smoke alarm, and reason that he was going to get in trouble for something bad he did that day anyway, so there was no reason for both of them to suffer. 

At school, he embellished stories or outright made some up to make his mother’s treatment of him sound more funny than tragic. Pushing real facts into the absurdity, going from “my mom makes me wear a leash when she brings me to the grocery store??” in 1st grade to “my mom makes me sleep in a doghouse when I’m bad” in 4th grade, to “my mom slipped dog tranquilizers into my oatmeal because I’m too hyperactive” by middle school. It was impossible to tell how much was made up, or if there were any crumbs of truth to his stories, but they seemed too crazy to be real. By all accounts, he seemed to have a good sense of humor about his mom’s strict parenting and convinced himself and almost everyone else (barring Libby, probably) that he wasn’t genuinely hurt by his home life. 

Unexpectedly, the one person who seemed to immediately notice the toxicity of Sonny and Glenda’s relationship was his mysterious estranged Aunt Odessa, who made a rare, standoffish appearance at a family function when he was in 7th grade, and could tell after witnessing a small blow-up in the corner of the room that this kid was NOT going to survive in Glenda’s house with his stubborn, feisty, tactless spirit. Before making her Irish goodbye, she pulled him to the side and gave him her contact information if he ever needed to talk. She never extended the courtesy to Sabrina or Sabrina’s mini-me, Libby, almost as if it was too painful to even look at them.

For the next year, Sonny would make offhanded jokes to his friend group about running away someday (it runs in his family!), but it never seemed like he was seriously working out logistics of an escape route.

Deep down, even he didn’t realize that he was sincerely considering it, but that may have been out of a fear and denial of how conniving some of his plans were to disappear, and a refusal to believe he actually had it in him to do what he had to do to get away with it. 

Sonny knew that it was a stretch for a 14-year-old to expect a modest, aloof woman to spontaneously adopt him and take on all of the expenses that come with making space for a rambunctious teenage boy in her house, and he also knew that he would need some kind of insurance if he was going to survive on the streets for long enough to make his next move if she didn’t let him in. To soften the blow in either outcome, he needed money. And, tragically, he knew where to get it if he wanted to pull his escape plan off without a hitch.

In the Spring before their freshman year of high school, the Freeses had finally saved up the huge funds they needed to get much-needed renovations done on the ice cream shop, and they left an envelop of money behind the counter in the shop overnight to pay the contractors that would be there in the morning - a shop that that infamously had a busted lock they didn’t rush to replace because they had enough trust in their neighbors.

Sonny’s moral compass knew if he was going to do what he was thinking to do, he could’ve taken from the pockets of a richer family, like the Archers or the Hargroves. But the realistic and frantically desperate side of him knew that the Freeses were the least likely to actually track him down and persecute him. The plan felt like an intrusive thought he wanted to swat away, but on an evening that he came home twenty minutes past curfew to find that Glenda had locked the doors and windows for the night, allegedly assuming he was sleeping over a friend’s, he impulsively skated to Frost-ee’s notoriously unreliably-locked doors and swiped the envelop of cold cash, and spent the rest of the restless, paranoid night sleeping over Cristiano’s. 

Over the course of the springtime and into the Summer, he watched as the Freeses not only went into debt with the renovation team, but also had their local reputation damaged in a way that would impact business in the long term, because so many townies would know them as the scumbag scammers who tried to get free service and lied about the money going missing. 

Sonny stayed in town for the rest of the Summer after it happened, waiting for the scandal to die down a bit before he took off, so people wouldn’t immediately realize it was him. 

The longer he stayed, too scared to say anything about what he did out of fear of the consequences, the more he realized he was completely locked into this plan and there was no turning back. His relationship with the gang would be unsalvageable if they ever found out what he did, (to the Freeses, of all families!) and then he would lose the only reason he had to stay in Cherry. If he managed to hide that he did it, he would be too wracked with guilt to act normal. So, as far as he was concerned, one impulsive move messed up everything he had to live for in Cherry, and his only option was starting a new life somewhere else.

The one person he let in on his scheme to run away was Libby, though he never said a word about the envelope. He only pitched it to her because he wanted her to skip town with him, because she was the one person he thought he could never leave behind. 

She didn’t take it well. She said she would hate him forever if he left, and never talk to him again if he really did it. He convinced himself it was typical Libby Lou dramatics and thought that she would eventually follow him once she realized he was serious about leaving. 

On a muggy August night, he made his move. 

He left instructions for Libby on how to find him, and contact information so he could guide her along the way, but it turned out that she was making good on her promise to never speak to him again. The longer he waited for her to call or show up, the more he started to resent her for, in his mind, choosing Glendzilla over her twin brother.

He pushed forward with making a life in San Francisco, and it became a bastion of freedom for him. He had a surprisingly smooth proposition and move-in with Odessa and her longtime partner, Levi. 

Granted, Odessa was distant — more like a wise older roommate than a caretaker. Though she did everything she could to materially help Sonny, and felt like helping him would make up for abandoning Sabrina, she’ll always be haunted by what happened to her in Cherry, and it was hard to let her walls down around someone who had the same big green eyes as her daughter. She was hands-off in parenting him, since he was already clearly a pretty scrappy and independent kid by the time he got to her, and she never really got a chance to mentally prepare for raising a child, much less one who already came with such a strong personality. 

He spent a lot of time at Bay Area punk shows and music festivals, and stayed out late on school nights. Odessa could tell that he reveled in freedom after a childhood under Glenda’s roof, so she didn’t really have the heart to give him a curfew, and would just do her best to advise him on avoiding hangovers, addictions, and STDs. 

He felt happy with his new life in San Fransisco. He miraculously finished high school and got a job he loved working on the local docks. He thought he made peace with never returning to his hometown, until he got a letter in the mail straight from Cherry, California. And it wasn’t Libby finally reaching out to him. It was Lux, dead and more menacing than ever.

(Christ alive this is getting so stupidly long. You get the gist. He’s back in town in the interest of clearing Libby’s name. He knows there’s hard feelings and he feels awkward for the first time in his life. He enrolled in CCU to have an excuse to stay in town long enough to solve the mystery in the event that his old friends and sisters make it clear that he isn’t welcome. He got a job at the Blossom Records cafe to get closer to Mac. I’ll see you all on the dash.)

                                              PERSONALITY.

Before his houdini act, he was known as the loudmouthed comic relief type of kid who, by all accounts, really seemed to have a heart of gold. He was always quick to reach out to people when they were going through something, but not at all in a Francesca Freese way. He wasn’t qualified to give advice or react seriously to people’s problems. His specialty was, fittingly, escapism. He lived in a house where there was no leveling with his parents or fixing any his family’s problems, so the only way to survive them was to just walk away every once in a while and look outside of his house to find some kind of solace in life. He went into other people’s problems with that same strategy.

Growing up by the coast, in a restrictive household, he always romanticized sailors and pirates, and dreamed of being the captain of his own ship, far away from society’s dumb rules and stressors. Everyone knew he was planning to travel the seven seas when he grew up, but nobody guessed that he would make his maiden voyage at the age of 14.

He has a lifelong habit of wandering off without telling anyone, and is a survivor of child leashing, which only ended when Glenda got tired of him trying to escape and opted to let him roam free and simply never tell him she loved him ever again. On more than one occasion, Sonny almost caused traffic pileups from crossing the road without looking both ways as a child. He kept every lifeguard in Cherry in the early ’90s busy. He could not be trusted around a “Keep off the Grass” or “No Trespassing” sign.

Sonny has always loved the idea of exploring, travelling, and going on adventures. He’s a devotee of souvenir culture, even on extremely small scales. If he went to the beach without Cristiano, he would bring back the coolest seashell he found that day. If he went to the grocery store without his sisters, he would stop at the 25¢ vending machines and get a glittery little bouncy ball for Libby and a plastic butterfly ring for Sabrina. (I have a list of worthless little presents he’s given every member of the gang + some lifelong townies that I’ll probably post soon!!)

100% Sonny was the kid who hid these little trinkets in your coat pockets for you to find the next time you wore it, and he would also just mess with stuff in your room, so you would be getting ready for bed the night after he visited and see he positioned your G.I. Joes to be 69ing. He’d leave secret messages in the last few pages of your notebooks that you wouldn’t find until you got to that page in the last month of school. More than one of the gang members absolutely ended their freshman year of high school finding a crude doodle in the back of their math notebook of a duck in a pirate hat smoking a cigarette, with a caption that said ‘CAPTAIN LOGAN WUZ X.’ 

He’s hugely sentimental. Even in his skeleton’s connections, it’s loud and clear that he’s still impacted by the end of his friendships with Zahra and Cristiano. It’s fair to say that he never stopped thinking about the gang while he was in San Francisco. He still seems to remember the tiniest, dumbest details and anecdotes about everyone and can’t help the big bittersweet smile on his face when he’s reminiscing about them. 

He picked up some bohemian lifestyle choices from spending time with hippie layabouts back in San Fransisco. He’s allegedly tried a wide array of psychedelic drugs, reads Adbusters, plays the bongos, likes the idea of liking the Beat poets and Hunter S. Thompson, and suddenly understands Astrid Van Allen’s lectures better than ever after dating an archetypal 90′s Wicca girl in high school. At his core, he’s still an unserious chucklefuck who loves Adam Sandler movies, but he’ll supportively nod along to Casey’s rants about the government and interpretations of Camus.

                                           HEADCANONS.

Did not like Lux Lewis, mostly out of loyalty to Libby. His relationships with the other popular girl side of the group (Alice, Elaine, Kitty, Virginia, Zahra) fluctuated, but I think he really chalked up most of their worst personality traits to Lux rubbing off on them. (Elaine stayed on thin ice at all times though.) He got along best with the group members who were the right mix of weird/offbeat/alternative and outgoing (Cristiano, Casey, Rocky, Frankie). He still tried to dick around with the quieter friends like Noah, Rory, Mac, and Zev, but as much as he admired them, I think his loud personality might have been overwhelming to them and he might have felt like he was pulling teeth trying to drag them out of their shells. (I don’t think Mac fits neatly into the latter group but their connection requires that they weren’t that close in their childhood so I’m lumping him in there.) His relationship with Harvey was it’s own bag of mixed but generally positive feelings; he definitely had more good will toward Harvey than the cheerleaders thanks to his friendship with Libby, but a part of Sonny did resent him, unfairly, solely for the fact that Glenda always tried to morph him into Harvey’s clone.) 

Sonny was the skatepark rapscallion who taught Libby how to shred!!!!! (as mentioned in the Sports section of her bio.) 

He left Cherry before everybody’s shit hit the fan after middle school, so he doesn’t know anything about things like Rocky or Virginia moving to the Southside, or Alice falling from grace.

I’ve fully decided he had a big fat crush on Maddie when he was little. She was an aspirational figure to him, as someone who traveled across the country every year and had this worldly adventurer’s mystique in Sonny’s eyes, but more importantly, she was very nice, and pretty, and matched his goofy energy, and he thought that her being kind of tomboyish made her the coolest girl he’d ever met. I don’t think she had the ability to make him shy, per se, but I’ll bet that any time she said something vaguely approving toward him he got tongue-tied and suddenly couldn’t keep eye contact.

You may have noticed that he’s listed as 21 and Libby is listed as 20 on the skeletons page... 👀 Hmmm............... ...................Anyway.

TW: DIS0RDERED EATING ! He has some hang-ups and weird habits with regards to eating, from a childhood of Glenda denying or tampering with his food for punishments. He used to survive mostly on sealed 7-Eleven snacks, and to this day he still avoids eat homemade meals or restaurant food. You’ll mostly catch him eating tinned sardines, crackers, beans, and bagged spinach. He also has a deeply-ingrained habit of starving himself when he feels really guilty and is compelled to punish himself to ease his conscience. 😔 He doesn’t know how much a victim he is to the Catholic mentality Glenda injected into his brain that Suffering = Virtuous.

UH OH!! I accidentally decided it would be really angsty and fun if he convinced everybody to participate in a time capsule and he invited everyone to bury it in his favorite piece of beach to celebrate their middle school graduation. Perhaps we... could all pitch ideas for what our characters threw in there.

I want to say that he made sure to have one last one-on-one hangout with every member of the gang in the month before he blew this pop stand. I like the drama of him having one unforgettable day with each of his friends, even though there would be a tension hanging over his head the whole time, because they would think that they were going to continue this great friendship with him in high school, while he knew it was supposed to be the last time he would ever see them. I would love to plot these out with everybody pleeeeease. :) (Don’t actually feel pressured though. I’m gonna say he reached out to make plans with everyone - even Elaine the Pain - but they didn’t have to actually indulge him.)

Roommate(s)?? His living arrangements are up in the air right now!! Not sure if he’d be dorming through loans or if he would want to save as much money as possible by living off-campus. If anyone has a character or family that would’ve posted a tenant wanted listing over the Summer, or needs a dorm-buddy, lmk! <3 He could be on the Southside or Cherry Proper, but it would probably have to be a very humble apartment if he’s in the mainland. 

There are some wanted connections mentioned in the interview section on his app! The friend he had his first drink with, the girl whose hand he held (could be upgrade to a very awkward smooch or honestly might’ve been completely chaste and just him trying to cheer her up when she was sad as opposed to it being a romantic thing if that doesn’t fit!, the older kid who gave Sonny dirty magazines in exchange for letting him into Sabrina’s underwear drawer wait not that one), or any other first-time memories. I had some muses in mind when writing those anecdotes, but I didn’t mention any names because I wanted to leave them open to anyone or make the characters inconsequential NPCs. (EDIT: i just revisited the app and realized I actually cut out all but two of those anecdotes from my original draft because otherwise Sonny would’ve been rambling for like twenty minutes, but the other ideas that involved other muses were: first time someone actually got him to focus and study for a test without any distractions, first time seeing a shooting star while looking at the sky with someone, first time he threw a punch, first time playing spin the bottle or truth or dare, first bicurious confession or homoerotic experience. :0 )

I just want to secure a childhood Play Station buddy. You know Glenda would never let him play Mortal Kombat under her roof but I feel like he needs to have that essential 90s tweenage boy experience. Who did he have Red Bull-fueled all-nighter sleepovers with. Who is he gonna have a Twisted Metal rematch with? Maybe they would listen to CDs with Parental Advisory Stickers on them or would go to the Blockbuster and rent R-rated movies together (even though Sonny can’t make it five minutes into a movie before he starts yapping or gets restless and suggests they take a 3am walk to 7-Eleven to get snacks and draw dicks on stopsigns). 

When I mentioned in the Logan Fam plotting session that, between being the only son in the family, and having an absentee father and a much-too-present mother, Sonny has some hangups on masculinity and didn’t really have a father/older brother figure in his life, I realize that B was probably joking when she said that “any time sonny had some sort of boy problem, sabrina would drag west to him by the ear like “FIX IT!!”” But. BIOGRAPHY

Margot Rowe is the girl who has everything. Born in a small town in Georgia, she was thrust into pageantry before her first birthday and gymnastics before her second. An only child, she had two parents who would dote on her with constant praises. Her mother, Tonya, was a former beauty queen that only saw a younger version of herself in Margot while her father, Richard, only wanted to see her be an upstanding Christian girl with her head on her shoulders. And Margot was happy to oblige. 

There’s always been a quiet naivety to Margot. Growing up, she was always sheltered from the horrors of the real world. She grew up in the church and nothing bad ever happened to good Christian girls unless they were asking for it, so Margot always stayed focused on things that mattered. Her life practically revolved around school, cheerleading practice, and church choir. There was no time for anything else. No time for parties and absolutely no time for boys. You may call her a prude or stuck up, but she just thinks it’s rather romantic to wait for the right guy.

Cheerleading was the first time Margot ever felt like she belonged. It was a place where she was truly wanted for her talents and not because her parents were on the board of something. Being a part of a team, a winning team, was all that mattered to her. Even if it wasn’t something she could continue into adulthood, she continuously made sure to be the best of the best. She was never quite head cheerleader material, Margot has never been someone to scream or yell, or hurt others' feelings. No, she was always the one helping girls up after they fell or consoling girls who didn’t make it and would cry in the bathroom, telling them “there’s always next year.”

Cherry wasn’t Margot’s first choice for college. She had her sights set somewhere more local, but after a rough stint in her senior year of high school, she had to look elsewhere for school. Luckily, C.C.U. didn’t do hard background checks on their students and Margot’s transcript spoke for itself. Straight A’s, extracurriculars, no juvenile record (as far as they were concerned), and an upstanding citizen. Plus, the old pastor at Cherry Baptist had passed away so it was the perfect excuse for Margot and her family to move out west with her dad applying for the post. 

Now a sophomore at C.C.U., Margot feels like she’s been a fine addition to the Cherry Cheerleading Club. She’s a breath of fresh air in a sea of girls who would rather murder each other to get to the top than help each other. That behavior is slowly beginning to rub off on Margot. Usually, she’s the one to nod and smile rather than tear someone down with vicious words, but you are who you spend your time with and if Margot stays on the team any longer, it’s just a ticking time bomb before she falls into their lies and schemes.

rocky remembers her childhood as a happy one, but it’s probably the rose coloured glasses slipped on by nostalgia that has her truly thinking that. it wasn’t unhappy, but it wasn’t anything incredible either. 

she’s the zhōu’s eldest daughter, her little brother a little over thirteen months younger than her. for most of her life her family was very close, she loved her little brother, she loved her parents and knew she was loved by them in return. even when she was a total twerp of a child.

until, of course, the fateful year she moved to the southside. her dad lost his job in the summer before rocky was supposed to start high school and not to be dramatic but: rocky felt like she lost everything as a result. a selfish and extreme thought that causes a pain in the pit of her stomach every time she thinks it.

in the beginning, she convinced herself it would take some adjusting. her parents said that. that the whole family would have to make adjustments, that people around them would adjust, that it would be uncomfortable and that it would take time, but it didn’t matter where she lived she was still her blah, blah, blah – and she believed them. until she realised she was being totally delusional. 

sure, she was adjusting. slowly but surely she was settling into southside high, making new friends, finding new places to hang out. but the people she grew up with weren’t adjusting. most of her friends since elementary school (The Gang, as it were) dropped her. it made her sad, it made her angry, it made her jealous, it made her bitter. she hated most of them so much for it, truthfully she still hates most of them. but as rocky’s life on the southside continued to unfold and she spent less time in cherry proper altogether: the hatred was sort of put on the back burner. it’s there, it’s still hot, but she’s gotta bigger shit to deal with most of the time.

such as: her parents becoming drug addicts. of course rocky wasn’t the only one having a hard time with the move. her parents struggling to find consistent work, struggling to keep a roof over their kids heads and food in their stomachs, found themselves reaching for something to ease the pain. something that was exceedingly accessible in cherry’s southside. i don’t imagine it to be a secret-secret but i do imagine it to be a little bit of a mystery why rocky joined the southside gang in the first place. most people just assumed it was fate for a girl like her, or maybe it was her new friends, and never dug much deeper than that. but the truth was, her parents had quickly accrued a debt with the southside gang. she was so young, and scared, and lonely, and desperate that when a friendly (aka manipulative lmao) gangster suggested she run for the gang to help pay off the debt – she all but begged them to take her on board.

but of course, this didn’t really help much in the long run. rocky started to work off her parents debt, but all it really did was make it easier for her parents to get drugs. after a time, it became less about helping her parents and more about helping her brother, helping herself.

once again, things started to settle. sure, they weren’t what they were (she had accepted they never would be) but it didn’t feel like everything was falling apart at the seams like it once had. rocky was fortunately/unfortunately pretty damn good at working for the gang. she saved enough and moved out of home at seventeen– a hard decision made harder by the fact that she had to leave her little brother in her parents’ care. 

most recently, and this would only really be privy to other southside gang members: rocky wanted to leave the gang. why did she want to? unknown. what stopped her? also unknown. but after she tried to leave she was when she was moved up slightly in the gang, when she was trusted more, and when she started going into cherry proper again .... suspicious ... no?

speaking of the nickname rocky: there is a story behind it but it’s long, long, long forgotten by most. if asked, rocky will say because corrine wasn’t stupid enough

rocky wasn’t an angry kid, just impulsive and reckless and a bit of a shit. she used to do things for the thrill of it, to get a laugh, or to prove someone wrong when they said she didn’t have the balls to do it. jump off a roof, throw a punch, sneak in somewhere and run from authority – it was all fun when she was a kid. but like just about everything else, it changed when she moved. she still did those things, but it wasn’t really about the fun of it anymore. more to feel anything over the anger or the numbness or the angry numbness.

Jaspar’s parents aren’t really scientific research assistants.  They’re published ‘paranormal experts’ who have been tricking locals in towns across the USA into giving up their cash through faking paranormal sightings and skipping town when they’re close to being found out. 

Background

Although Jaspar was born in Auburn, Maine, he’s always seen it as a positive that - at various points in his life - he’s got to call some part of the entire country his home.

It’s safe to say that Jaspar grew up a bit naive. As a child, he believed in the power of good and kindness above all else and through his parents’ work as scientific research assistants he got to see the powers of spreading good every single day. The Florentinos were as close-knit as they came; with the help of their wider family (all piled into the back of their van) they’d haul off to locations across the states to pursue the next great scientific effort. 

For the most part, it was a happy childhood. Instilling in him a real sense of magic as he’d watch his parents prove a theory correct and a sense of excitement every time he got to help them with part of one of their ‘experiments’. His parents were truly what he saw as real life superheroes - spreading good wherever they went and helping others. In contrast, it was actually also quite a lonely childhood. The friends he’d make in one school would be gone in a matter of months whenever they’d leave to their next big scientific discovery and, in the end, he knew he only truly had one thing: his mind. So he tried to feed his intellect as much as he could - in the routes they’d take, the facts he’d gain from wandering into a museum in town and finding a home amongst the books. And by the time he was ten, he felt more at home with the local librarian than he did around kids his own age. It wasn’t sad. Just life and he wouldn’t change being around his heroes everyday for anything. 

However, when he was thirteen, he stumbled upon the truth in a newspaper. His parents weren’t scientific research assistants at all - nor were they doing anything with any real scientific merit. They were scam artists. ‘Paranormal researchers’ who used the beliefs of those who actually did genuinely believe there were ghosts, ghouls, demons and other entities and performed elaborate shows just to trick the believers into handing over their cash. Whether it was ‘getting rid of the ghost in the attic for the low fee of $1000′ or taking photographs of their ‘encounters’ for journals while relying on double exposures and tricks of light, the only thing he could still say was that they were good at their jobs at least. 

From there, Jaspar grew more jaded. He still believed in the powers of science, but he gripped onto the thoughts of the logical so tightly that it left no room for the magical or whimsical in the world. Kindness and goodness were still principles he clutched close to his chest, but in every new town they’d visit it was a little harder to open up to new friends. 

But he was certain of one thing. He was going to prove that science could be used to heal and spread warmth again - and he could think of no better way to do that than to one day become a doctor. Right now, he’s leaning towards paediatrics but we’ll see! 

He knows he should probably cut his parents off but he can’t quite bring himself to as they’re the only real attachments he has in the world. Going back to them isn’t really an option but they stay in contact via long distance phone calls where he updates them on how his degree is going and they update him about tricking the people of another small town that their house is definitely haunted.

He’s always had an affinity for small towns. Places with a heart and soul, so by the time college rolled around Cherry, with its beach and motels seemed perfect... until it turned into an actual nightmare, of course! It was only natural that the locals wanted to blame their trauma on something beyond humanity and their own comprehension. A series of traumatic events has had that effect on people throughout history, in his mind. 

Working for Kamilla Yang gives him a chance to expand upon his love for research and for the most part, although they have differing beliefs, he really does have a lot of time for her. A kooky historian who just so happens to believe in the things he knows aren’t real? Who wouldn’t want the chance for a little intellectual sparring every now and then! Or simply a chance to get to look at all those sweet Cherry archives while typing up her research. It really is the nerdy dream. The thought of his own logical beliefs being challenged? Yet to cross his mind.

Cristiano has been attached to his mother for as long as he can remember. Astrid was an extremely hands-on parent. He followed her across the city and state and participated in every type of protest imaginable. His love for art actually started when he hired himself as his mother’s personal picket sign designer. Picket signs became paintings and paintings became sculptures. Before long, Astrid had a tiny visionary on her hands (one with a lot to say).

If Cristiano’s mother was Astrid, his father would have to be the streets. He was supported by the organizers and hustlers of Cherry and its neighboring cities. They poured into his artistry. He mirrored their jargon and ideals. He read their academic papers. He stayed active and ate well, knowing that his stature and muscle mass could be invaluable in a protest turned sour. Before being cursed by Lux and the weight of his friends’ secrets, his biggest art inspiration had always been community and activism. 

Somewhere down the line, as Cristiano got taller and wiser, he realized his mom needed him. She showed up for the community in so many beautiful ways, but she was terribly unorganized. Cristiano learned how to open and close her shop at 12 years old. He learned how to do taxes at 13. A few years later, he got his first and only job at Cherie’s Closet to help with groceries. He loved his mother more than anything. Keeping a smile on her face would always be high on his priority list. 

Meeting the gang changed a lot for him. He finally had friends his age. They inspired him and made him laugh. But just as quickly as their bonds forged, many of them left town to chase their collegiate dreams. Meanwhile, Cristiano had already decided to bunker down in Cherry and get his degree from home. He couldn’t leave his mom and he didn’t have the gall to leave his small pond. He liked his big fish status.

 Right as Cristiano began to sink back into the weight of living, tragedy struck. Finding Lux’s dead body was one thing. Finding evidence of all the dirt and undercover happenings your best friends’ were hiding? Talk about kicking a guy while he’s down. Cristiano was immediately overwhelmed by it all, his sense of right and wrong being tested. But he and Freyja chose to keep quiet. Lux’s ghosts, however, haven’t shut up since that night.

Cristiano learned just how powerful Hargrove was that same night. So when Harvard Hargrove approached him with a business venture...he couldn’t say no. The man was offering him enough money to keep his mother’s business afloat and then some. Sure...it meant no protests and no new demonstrations but that was a worthy trade off in Cris’s eyes. What was more difficult was covertly squashing his mother’s plans and passions. Worst of all, having to lie to her about it.

The Hargroves were a seemingly perfect family from any outsider; the walls of their expansive home hiding the fractures in Cherry’s royal family. One of Harvey’s earliest memories is loneliness. He was raised by nannies instead of parents, his parents’ absence filled by any material good a boy could ask for. A key moment in his life was when his mother left. Harvey doesn’t like thinking about it that much. The dynamic at home changed greatly after she left; suddenly his father seemed to care more about him, though care might be the wrong word to use considering the next twelve years of torment he would go through at the hands of his father.

On the outside, Harvey and his father seemed to be a father and son duo, brought together by thr tragedy of a wife and mother cruelly abandoning them. But behind closed doors, he was poked, proded, and sculpted into the perfect figurehead through his father’s cruel words. Harvey has never been a person to easily submit, but it’s clear how quickly his persona changes when his father walks into a room.

When his father told him he had began seeing another woman and wanted to marry her, part of Harvey longed for the perfect nuclear family act the Hargroves had once played, his father paid less attention to him back then. It was a hard adjustment when Jillian and Zev entered the picture, even now it still doesn’t feel like they’re truly a family. But Harvey doesn’t mind much, his stepmother brings a warmth and kindness that seemed to lack from the Hargrove family for most of life; and even if Zev isn’t the brother Harvey spent most of his childhood fantasizing about, it was nice to not be the only teenager at home.

Harvey reached his peak in high school: he was the star athelete at school, everyone knew his name, and he finally had found a group of people he was comfortable to be himself around. But he wanted more. He was a Hargrove: he could have anything, do anything he wanted. As tensions began to rise in the gang as high shool graduation drew closer, Harvey wanted out of this town. Lux was the only person he ever opened up to about these plans, and she was the one who he encouraged him to look at schools outside of Califorina. When the acceptance letter for Ohio State University arrived in the mailbox, Harvey had found his golden ticket out of Cherry. He left town with a few choice words about many people before cutting contact with most of the gang as soon as he got to Ohio.

College life seemed to be going great for Harvey, he had found a new friend group on campus and was almost going steady with a girl. But then, Ohio was ripped right from him as a consequence of his own actions. In Cherry, he could seemingly get away with anything, of course there is a difference between speeding tickets and agravated assault. Coming back to Cherry, he felt like a dog with it’s tail between it’s legs. ‘Homesickness’ is what his father tells anyone who asks why Harvey is back, holding the real reason cruelly over Harvey’s head. 

Forcefully back home and at his lowest, the cracks in Cherry’s golden boy are beginning to look more visible.

Harvey had always been the best in Cherry: he was the star quarterback, practically the best athelete to come from Cherry in years. His ego was only inflated when he recieved a football scholarship to Ohio State. But as soon as Harvey got to school, he was suddenly for the first time in his life stuck around people you were equally talented, if not more so. The desire to prove himself pushed him into some unhealthy lifestyles: insane exercise routines and borderline eating disorder diets. The ‘answer’ to his prayers came in the form of an older student slipping him anabolic stereoids one day before a game.

Harvey had always thought of himself better than needing performance enhancers, but the pressure he put on himself weighed too much as he took the stereoids before his next game. It had been one of the best games he’d played in months and he had never felt better.

Slowly, he began to take stereoids more and more. He dawned on his dependency after it was too late. Even now, back home in Cherry, it’s a habit he can’t quite kick. Ashamed of what the public would think if news slipped there once beloved quarterback can’t even play a game anymore without the help of drugs, Harvey keeps his addiction locked behind his bedroom door.

Huge fan of altnerative rock, which might be a little surprising to some consdiering the jock persona he lives by. Some of his favorite bands include Pearl Jam, R.E.M, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

He drives a red 1996 Mazda RX-7 and it is his pride and joy. It was a gift from his grandfather shortly after he graduated high school. He can often be found taking it out for joy rides around town; not many other sports cars in Cherry so it’s pretty easy to recognize when it’s Harvey.

He’s a night owl. While Harvey often wakes up at ungodly hours to work out before his classes, he feels most productive when the sun goes down. There is something about how quiet and still the world is during the middle of the night that calms him right down.

When Harvey isn’t working out or being arrested he is often playing video games. While he considers himself a casual gamer, he plays them quite often. His favorites include Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil, and Metal Gear Solid. He prefers console games over computer and arcade games.

Mini Bio: 

West Virginia is the second oldest of the Virginia clan, and probably one of Hugo's favorites... Especially since he skipped out on college to work full time at the garage. He eats, sleeps, and breathes classic cars - and though he believes blood is thicker than water, he's the first one to bully his siblings about nearly anything. Especially Paulie. When he's not at the garage, you can probably find him on a surfboard at the beach pretending like he doesn't know Virginia.

Bio: 

- You grow up quick when you’re raised in a family like the Virginia’s. Or at least that’s what it felt like to West. He learned how to work a wrench at 2 years old. Was performing oil changes by the time he was 10. And by 16 he was one of the best mechanics in the family. So it was safe to say his love of cars started early. He learned to drive at the ripe age of 12 when he could just barely reach the gas pedal and found himself latched onto a need for speed only two years later. And he never really minded any of it. The hard grueling work his father forced upon him. Not the way some of his siblings did. But it was likely the start of his hunger for adrenaline that would carry him further and further from his fathers good graces. He fell in love with surfing the first time he went out. Got the cord of his surf board wrapped around his throat and almost drowned while out in the ocean. The life guard that carted him back in told him he was lucky to be alive. And he was right back out there an hour later. He fell into illegal street racing just as easily. Started as a way to blow off steam. Being stupid. Doing donuts in the Cherry High School parking lot. Ended in him going 150 down the backroads in an old car he’d fixed up at his dads shop. He’d earned more money that night than he ever had in a week at the shop. 

- It was the races that got him involved in some shadier business. Once the guys he spent his time with realized how he did it, they wanted a part of it. Offered to buy and sell parts to him from the cars he worked on to make their own rides better. It was a dirty business, but as far as West was concerned it was his ticket out. The only place he really wanted to be after perhaps delving into the most adrenaline filled thing he could have done. At the ripe age of 16 years old, West Virginia fell head over heels in love with Sabrina Logan. Someone so far out of his league who should have been practically unattainable let him wiggle his way into her heart. Their relationship burned bright and West had never been happier than he was when he was with her. Unfortunately as some things do, the brightness of their love got them both burned when Glenda Logan found out and forced Sabrina to break up with him, sending him directly back down a track to self destruction as he welcomed any and all distractions. 

- With a new found passion for proving he was worth more than Glenda made him feel, West doubled down on his efforts. Made a point of flirting with women outside his league, got himself involved in bigger races, and bigger schemes to make an extra buck. He’s still the hardest worker his father has at the Garage, and considers himself to be the closest thing to the head of the family. But little does anyone know the spiral of shit he’s gotten himself into.

Pilar has been a native to Cherry since the day she was born, and so was her father, and her grandparents. Generations have settled in Cherry, and though Pilar totally respects that - although she loves her Dad to death... She absolutely can't wait to get off of their little beach, and onto a much bigger beach!

Lambda Rho was all ever Pilar wanted in a chosen family, and when Belle Goode took her under wing in Pilar's freshman year? It was like a dream come true. Suddenly, she was popular - suddenly other girl's looked up to her and expected her to make them better. It was thrilling, and... terrifying, but Pilar had never shied away from a challenge. biography.

Pilar wasn’t exactly planned - she was born to too young parents Porter Hamilton and (as yet unnamed mother) trying to make the change work.

Three years later her mother was gone.

Pilar doesn’t remember her much, nor does she care to. Her dad is enough.

Because of her mother leaving, however, he had to lean on his family to help take care of Pilar while he finished med school. He was absent often, throughout her childhood and as a result, Pilar is close with her family, especially her grandmother.

Eventually her dad was a proper doctor, and able to move them out to their own place when he started working at the Cherry Family Clinic. Because of this, late middle school and high school is when she grew closer to him than she’d ever been able to when she was younger.

At school, Pilar wasn’t really on anyone’s social radar. She wasn’t picked on, but she definitely wasn’t one of the popular girls. She mostly just kept her head down and stayed off that radar.

College, however, was when she truly flourished. Rushing Lambda Rho and being plucked from obscurity by Belle Goode was like something out of a movie. Suddenly people paid attention to her, they listened, they followed. Something about Lambda Rho just clicked, and suddenly Pilar had a second home.
