Hey guys! I'm just starting to join the Arcana fandom and get back on Tumblr and y'all have been delightful! You're awesome!! ❤❤

It's been really cool to see how much respect everybody's apprentices are given, and it made me think about developing my own. I really cant draw though and I cant afford commissioning someone right now so... I pulled out my old Love Nikki account. It's a fashion game and I actually bought quite a bit on it back in the day; I have a pretty expansive wardrobe to choose from. It's worked out really well!

First of all, let me just start by saying that, after actively playing with the Arcana Game, my idea of Raniya grew farther and farther away from how the MC interacted and was portrayed in relation to the characters. Therefore, I’ve decided to diverge from the canonicity, and I started to envision Raniya more as an outsider rather than Asra’s apprentice, with a backstory quite different from what happened to the Apprentice. (It touches in some points, but otherwise the premises are completely different).So, as far as my Raniya is concerned, she wasn’t the apprentice to Asra, but rather Nadia’s handmaiden, the one under her service before Portia was hired.

So, without further ado, let me (re)introduce you……

RANIYA AL-YASSIN

NAME: Raniya Al-Yassin

PLACE OF BIRTH: The Altan Desert, a great red sand desert, far far away from Vesuvia.

TALENTS/ SKILLS:

Horse Riding: In virtue of belonging to a nomad tribe who travel with horses and trade them as well, Raniya learned from a very young age to ride horses, to the point where it became almost a second nature to her.

Master Alchemist and Poisoner: After numerous years of studying, first during her teenage years,under her father’s tutelage and later during her permanence in her first husband’s sultanate, Raniya dedicated most of her time studying the intricate and exact art of Alchemy, becoming an expert in the field. During her adult years, she also developed an interest in the science concerning the conctioning of poisons and antidotes, to the point where it became her main field of studying. While in Vesuvia, she runs an illegal stall in the Red Market under the now obsolete Coliseum, where she trades her most dangerous poisons to whoever needs them, for whatever reason.

Exceptional Markmanship: Raniya learned to use a bullwhip from her older brother Halim, who is also a proficient user of both bullwhip and knives. When she was 5 years old, Raniya found her brother practicing with the bullwhip close to their parents’ tent, and fascinated by that weapon, so graceful and yet so lethal, she begged him to teach her how to use it. In time she got better and better, and now, as an adult, she can be truly dangerous. Those who know her are aware of how lethal she is with her whip in her hand. It’s her main weapon for self defense AND attack, and it’s almost impossible for her to be without it. When she sleeps, she keeps it underneath her pillow.

Proficient in playing the violin: While living in her husband’s harem, when she was 18 years old and pregnant with Kara, she took a liking in playing the violin, to confort herself from her solitude and also distract herself from the complication her pregnancy brought. Now she plays it whenever she can, usually to accompany her sisters-in-law dancing.

HAIR: Obsidian Black with a blue hue, thick, long, wavy, usually braided.

EYES: Icy Grey, big, with thick eyelashes, a little droopy in shape.

SCARS/PIERCING/TATTOO: Raniya bears ten whipping scars on her back, consequences of the interrogation that took place after the death of Count Lucio. She always covers them, and it’s almost impossible to see her with her back completely bared.

PERSONALITY: Raniya is aloof, self-controlled, pragmatic, no nonsense and with a very strong personality. She’s a passionate , resourceful and assertive woman, not afraid to work hard for what she wants, but also not afraid to resort to whatever it takes to achieve the results she expects to reach.

She’s very logical, and like to approach problems with an analytical and calculating mind, not allowing her emotions to get in the way. She can come across as detached and threatening, especially when she needs to be, and she is not above to use strong or illegal measures to obtain what she wants.

She calculates almost everything she does, and because of this she has a hard time being spontaneous. Letting her emotions (and her true motivations) escape from the façade she shows to the world is perceived by her as a huge faux pas on her side, and to show even a hint of weakness is something she would not forgive herself for.

Raniya hates to be in the spotlight, per her choice, and feels more confortable in pulling the strings from the shadow, where she has more freedom to act according to her wishes and she feels she has more control of the situation.

She’s quite serious, and her smile are rare, usually kept only for the people she loves, and but if she finds herself in a situation that calls for her to be pleasant, she has no problem being charming and relatable.

Raniya is intuitive and rather savvy in the manners of people, and this, coupled with her analytical mind and self-preserving personality, brings her to easily manipulate others, if she deems the situation to be appropriate.

Due to her being a professional poisoner and potioneer, she is meticulous in all aspects of her life, and doesn’t like to leave anything to chances.

When it comes to her relationship to other people, she has a very hard time opening up to people and make friends, because of her incapability of trusting someone, if not after a long time. But if she takes a person in her heart and/or under her wing, in due time she becomes completely loyal and devoted to them, to the point of risking of hurting herself in the process.

Due to her past, she’s terrified by the idea of being in love and all the implication that this entails, and for this she basically blocks all her emotions behind a mask of aloofness and apparent carelessness. She’s uneasy with her emotions, and become (to her great embarassment) a huge dork, when it comes to express how she feels.

Due to the fact that she doesn’t have many people that loves her, she cherishes the few she has dearly. She is a very hard woman, not used to receive affection or being affectionate with people, but when the few walls around her personality are parted by the people she loves, she is capable of showing great compassion and heart; this is especially true in regards of her son, Kara, who she loves dearly and helds in high regard and respect, regardless of the circumstances of his conception and birth. He’s the apple in his mother’s eyes, and because Raniya is sure he’s going to be her only child (because, no way she will go through the nightmare that was her first pregnancy ever again willingly), she is highly protective of him and highly secretive. A casual acquaintaince would never guess that Raniya is actually a mother, and even Julian, while being in a relationship with her, didn’t know about Kara.

Phew, that was a long ass paragraph! I wi add a few things here and there, as well as her backstory, but where i live it’s very late right now, so i will do it tomorrow!
