Royal Black ‘The Guardian’ & ‘Dark Knight’ Custom Couture Corset
Sorry if you've answered this question already--I'm a little late to the game cause I just followed you recently. Anyway, on your website it says you're not doing custom corsets at the moment. Will you be changing that in the future or are you keeping it that way?
Hello! That hiatus was meant to be temporary while I caught up on orders, but a car accident 3 years ago messed up my neck and upper back so I can’t tolerate cutting / sewing for long periods of time without getting a flare. I managed to finish all outstanding orders, but haven’t taken any others since 2015.I honestly don’t know when I’ll be comfortable opening up that side of my business again, but there are 300+ other corset makers who would probably love to make something custom for you. There might even be one who works close to where you live and can give you a personal fitting, if you check the Corsetiere Map. :)

Corset Post -
I’ve been quiet for quite awhile, happily creating corsets and all manner of finery, meanwhile digesting what’s happening in the world.
I’ve mentioned a few times that I enjoy our bespoke work the most because it helps a lot of people. The photos above are of one of our amazing staff members at Dark Garden. She has some skeletal issues and a lot of back trouble because of them. She is happiest when she is wearing a corset, but not just any corset.
She’s got some very interesting asymmetry in her hips and rib cage which isn’t obvious to anyone, but causes her a lot of discomfort. Our conversation about how everything felt during her mockup fitting reminded me that this work would help even more people if only they knew about it.
I’m sharing her photos (with her approval of course) so you can see what I see - her right hip is fuller and a bit higher and this pushes the corset into her lower back, so I’ve loosened the laces at the waist and will make the waist of the actual corset a bit bigger, but in a very specific way. The pattern will have a right and a left side - two patterns for one corset. We’ll test the changes with another mockup to be sure that it’s fitting perfectly, then we’ll make the final corset for her in a lovely black silk brocade.
The corset holds her hips and lower back securely and comfortably so she doesn’t collapse into poor and painful posture. Instead she is embraced by the corset making her physically more comfortable and therefore happier and more confident.

It's bizarre to think that I haven't owned a custom-sized corset for so long! And the owner of SnowBlack Corsets (snowblackcorsets) has been just phenomenal to work with. She was pleasant and communicative every step of the way, and I just adored seeing the progress shots of the corset (including the one above, posted on SnowBlack's Instagram). The corset should be on its way to me soon, but I've had a great experience with every step of this rather quick commission.
