Today is National Compliment Your Mirror Day, and I did take the time this morning to give myself a bit of a pep talk before I rushed out the door to drop off my youngest to camp and get to fittings for people I'm working with for the first time in this capacity. If you could give yourself one compliment right now that would encourage you, what would it be?
The creative path is not an easy one, and sometimes it involves pep talks, at other times almost a little self-bullying to get over the inertia, the cynicism, and the fear. I've been trying to give myself more grace and kindness, but it does not come easy to me yet. I still get up in my own head too much, but life is a constant work-in-progress.
I am sharing these pics of when I first completed my grape half-corset almost a decade ago, since I had my friend Danielle Waterman take pics of me looking in the mirror in before running wardrobe. I wore fancy blacks underneath so I could just jump into work afterwards, with a bustle skirt I created with safety pins and a feather headpiece from a vendor at my local Renaissance festival and my favorite pair of Steve Madden boots.

I haven’t posted anything costume/cosplay related here in a while, so here’s the corset I spent all Spring Break 🥲 making for this Peach cosplay I want to put together + a comparison to the Daisy corset I made last year for a similar purpose
Bonus!! The design concept and the mock-ups that led up to the real corset
sweeet face
my custom RedThreaded corset just arrived
you guys
my lacing gap is straight for the first time in my life
what is this sorcery
Sheer corset covered in French lace and sculptural cowls at the hips. The next piece in the making of the Claudia Savage collection.
Sorry if you've answered this question already--I'm a little late to the game cause I just followed you recently. Anyway, on your website it says you're not doing custom corsets at the moment. Will you be changing that in the future or are you keeping it that way?
Hello! That hiatus was meant to be temporary while I caught up on orders, but a car accident 3 years ago messed up my neck and upper back so I can’t tolerate cutting / sewing for long periods of time without getting a flare. I managed to finish all outstanding orders, but haven’t taken any others since 2015.I honestly don’t know when I’ll be comfortable opening up that side of my business again, but there are 300+ other corset makers who would probably love to make something custom for you. There might even be one who works close to where you live and can give you a personal fitting, if you check the Corsetiere Map. :)
