Scotty Cameron Custom Shop
Do you LOVE Scotty Cameron ? Do you have a Scotty Cameron Putter? Did you know that you can customise it ? Rob sends his putter off for the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop experience
Oh, where to begin!!!
I’ve been a bit quiet on the review front recently so I thought I would come at you today with my experience of Scotty Cameron Custom Shop earlier this year …..
A few quick questions though : –
Do you love Scotty Cameron Putters? TICK
Do you spend half your life on the Scotty Cameron website using the interactive tool customising your putter? TICK
Do you have up to 8 weeks to live and play without your Scotty? NO!
Neither did I, but every cloud has a silver lining as they say and due to a wrist injury guess who had the 8 weeks suddenly available !? Yes, I did!
Basically and very generally Scotty Cameron Custom Shop is the place to make your putter however you want it. All you need is a Scotty Cameron Putter and a fair few quid!
So after much discussion with Mrs Cross (and a bit of begging) I was permitted to go for the full works. Her words, if it’s a one off then you may as well do it properly…..
So you get onto the website and three choices. When I designed mine the X7M wasn’t an option on the interactive tool. But I was given the X5 instead
I’m going to go through interactive as it’s more visual, but actually when booking I used the classic form. Choose your putter and up it pops….
Then we get the main screen. A picture of the putter head and the fun begins…
So I went for the restoration option. Which I’ll show you later. But they strip the whole putter down and it’s finished in a black matt colour.
Then you move to the next option of customising the head, millions of options, initial stamping, paintfill colours, new weights, with engraving….

Sight lines….
It’s endless. And the website is excellent! You can play around for hours…. New grips, new headcovers, shaft bands….
Once you’ve completed the form, in whichever form you choose. You get a summary and a price. Add and change as you wish…… You can even save and come back again…
Choose what shipping you want, economy or first class with FedEx
Pay a deposit based on a percentage of the value of the work and print off your order.
Pack it up in a box, put the order form in the box and send via a chosen courier. I went with My Hermes and it was about £30.00, tracked and insured.
This is where the service takes a seriously impressive swerve.
You get an email from the Custom Shop. To say they’ve received it and to check the order is correct. It’s from an actual person. A real personal touch.
Now I wasn’t really taken with any of the headcovers so in the notes I asked if one became available while in stock could I change. I could, but it was a fee of £15 ish. We emailed backwards and forwards, and I changed the weights to have the Scotty Junk Yard Dog engraved. I also changed my grip.
Then a limited edition headcover came out. I immediately emailed and asked for it. Order updated. You can log into the website and each time there is a change it updates.
Just what I would expect from Scotty.
And so, under the time allowed. I got an email saying it had been shipped. Two days later. It arrived. I was so excited. In a yellow box as well!
Headcover to start…
Giddy Up Limited Edition, it has the famous Hula Girl riding Jackpot Johnny, Junk Yard Dog and Dirty Rat, all iconic Scotty designs
Grip. Matador Mid in White….
Now for the head…. I went classic, full black restoration with all white paintfill, translucent red weights and Scotty spots..
Top, white sight lines…
Bottom, classic white paintfill on all the text… Junk
Yard Dog engraved weights..
Now for the bit I love… My little man is called Dexter and was born on 3rd June 2009.
So in classic white… In true Scotty dancing font. D. 3. 6. 9.
I got the shaft shortened and the loft and lie adjusted to my SAM lab fitting specs..
Genuinely in love. Now I just need to sort the idiot on the end of it out!!
It’s not cheap, but it’s a one off. It takes a top of the range putter into something epic. 100% recommended.
