Alright everyone sit down.

I believe all the rules which Boss or other characters told as about are based on his experiences.

This one for example.

I believe he tried hurting a mortal (I hope y'all know who I'm referring to), but because of the way he was treated, because of the way he was raised, of course he thought he was doing the wrong thing, which led to more misdeeds. More about that:

Also, if you really think about it, he was literally used as a sacrifice to stop the strange occurrences from happening.

And if you think about it even more, Boss, much like Eugene, is really everyone's story at once.

Being a kid who's constantly made fun of, ignored, despised even from Charlie.

Being wronged by someone above you in power from River.

Seeing no worth in yourself from Eugene.

Being forgotten and probably replaced from Hayden.

Doing the wrong thing because the world fucked you up from Joan.

Another thing I want to add

For me personally, he looks so much more younger here. And he also feels younger, almost like a kid, a teenager who's parents took away his chance of living a happy life.

In conclusion, I feel so bad for him. His family had no right to treat him the way they did and the game itself makes him seem like the bad guy, the villain who ruined everything when he's really just like many other kids in our world. Wronged and looking for a better place to be.

But what if, what if the first one is Boss. Think about it. He's already a full on shadow and we know that you become an evil spirit when you loose your mind. And I bet you'd go insane after being completely alone, fighting monsters all by yourself and protecting the people who hurt and sacrificed you for god knows how long.
