Jacques Cuypers
Joan of Arc, by Jacques Cuypers, through his Tiffany range of medieval figures, now no longer in business, sadly. The double hexagonal base for the mounted figures is a signature feature of these models.
Jacques Cuypers
This mounted knight is from Jacques Cuypers, as it has his signature double hexagon base for the horse. I am not sure who the knight is, but feel that with the red dragon standard it could be Welsh. It could be Own Glen Dower, but I feel the heraldry would be wrong for this. Perhaps a standard bearer for him ?
Architect Pierre #cuypers designed the 17th century #rijksmuseumamsterdam and the stunning Cuypers #library - gorgeous eclectic mix of Renaissance and Gothic mashup #architecture styles • Interesting though modest #Dutch art collection (compared to Louvre) through the middle ages and centuries of colonial conquests, featuring key works like Rembrandt‘s “Nightwatch” and Vermeer’s Kitchen Maid - the Dutch “Milk maid” masterpiece. ✨ (at Rijksmuseum)
The Trapdoor at the Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum designed by Cuypers was built as a “gate” to Amsterdam, as it stands just outside the line of the 18th Century city walls. It balances the Central Station, at the other end of the city, and also designed by Cuypers. It houses some of the most important artifacts of Dutch history and the famous of Dutch art, including the Night Watch. Here’s a view of it showing the gate structure…
