daeun’s not exactly sure where her obsession for keeping up with her nails came from. if she looks back at it, she thinks it sort of came naturally simply because of the amount of time she’s had to spend looking down at her own hands. all those hours spent in front of the piano also meant hours and hours of her hands being exposed to her own eyes.
while she wasn’t allowed to go all out back when she was an aspiring pianist, she still made sure to keep them tidy and good to look at. by the time she’s grown out of her pianist phase, there wasn’t anything in particular that daeun was interested in nor good at. the natural response was to lean into the few interests she had which included nail care.
it’s how she finds herself sitting at a nail salon as a technician. she’s definitely not the most skilled, and she thinks she only got the job because she was good at kissing up to whomever was in charge of the hiring process, but she does a nice job now. it’s evident through the number of regulars that make sure to drop her name whenever they make a reservation. the lady that’s sitting in front of her now fell into that category.
“you’ve come to see me again! i’m flattered!” frankly, she’s not all too sure why she would come to her when there were much more skilled technicians, but she is aware that she holds a good conversation. for some people, that could be the main reason they come around to a nail salon. everybody knows that what’s said inside a nail salon stays inside the nail salon.
with a bright smile, she starts out the appointment as usual, cleaning the other’s nails. “must have had a rough month, huh? did your nails not bother you? they’ve grown out quite a bit!”
