     For Kris, childhood didn’t have many bright aspects, it was filled with a certain level of darkness, flying from Seoul to Los Angeles every few years until his family finally settled in the latter until he was sixteen. But there’s one time that sticks out, when they’d gone home ( to Kris, Seoul would always be home, no matter what ) for the holidays where the snow was heavy and he was so very happy. His father had been out of the picture for a while now, a few years, and it was just him, his mother and Krystal and--- it felt like a family. For the first time in his life, he felt as if what they had was a family.

     A small Kristopher Seung, eleven at the time, ran through spiraling flakes that hardly stuck to the ground before being scooped up and made into a ball to soon be ditched at either his sister or mother, respectively, and gleeful laughter echoed out through the near empty field from the boy’s chest when he managed to hit the mark. Yeah, family, this is what family was meant to be. Not nightmares that would wake him up screaming, or the fear of his father coming back for him, for his sister.

     There’s a thud, a pause from the small boy as white flakes find place in his hair after a perfectly aimed snowball collides with the back of his head and he stays still for a moment. The perfect chance for whoever it was to run. But they don’t, and when he turns around eyes fall upon his sister who’s got a wicked grin and head throws back in laughter when she sees his face. A chase ensues after that, legs carrying him half way around the field after the shrieking elder, faint sounds of their mother telling them to be careful, and it’s ironically yelled out just as Kris gets his arms around the girl and tackles her into the soft blanket of snow below them both. She fights, of course, wiggles to try and get free from her small but still stronger brother’s grip with giggles pouring from her mouth constantly until he has her safely pinned and is grinning bright down at her. This is family, this is love, this is everything Kris wanted and everything he needed. A shame it would end soon, and the notion causes expression to falter. A pause, silence as Krystal calms down and brow furrows in concern for her younger brother’s sudden silence, before he’s dropping his head and hiding it against her shoulder.

          “I don’t wanna go home... I don’t want this to end, sis. This feels so           normal.”

     Arms find their way around his frame, holds him tight and the elder Seung gives a hushed sigh, the faint feeling of lips pressing to a numb cheek.

                    “I know, Krissy, but we can always have this--- when we’re older                     and together!! Promise.”
