Good Morning America!
My lovely meaty mates,
I’ve been getting some questions about the political elements of some of my pieces, recently The Looting of Zodanga and Edelweiss. Your questions have inspired me to ramble a little and even host a prompt-ish event:
I wouldn’t say that anything I have written (except for Ballot 237) has a directly political agenda. I think the anthropologist in me just uses sociopolitical tones that comes across as having political, religious, or scientific motivations. But those are all pretty much the same thing and I use them to whittle different interpretations for a piece. I do believe that it’s important to write with a purpose though and I thank all of you who have reached out with your support.
So today that got me thinking and I decided to do something uncharacteristically patriotic. It might not seem like I appreciate this country but I have a lot of respect for the premises at its foundation as well as the life I am able to lead here. Thus, I am a conscientiously critical citizen. It means a lot to me.
Until the presidential inauguration I’ll be reblogging from the Ramble Logs and writing some pieces that do have political interpretations. Help me flood tumblr with our own propaganda feels. Anyone can participate, you don’t have to be American.
PROMPT: Using the tag #doolalitap, reblog an old piece or post a new one that is sociopolitical in some nature. There is no limit to the number of posts, in fact the more the better! You can keep tagging your posts with #doolalitap and I’ll keep adding them to the collection.
So until the ever looming 20th, I hope you’ll enjoy and join the doolally tap. Spread the word.
Forever your comrade,
Maya
P.S. Lookout for some classy tunes, CVS Bangers being obviously, the most thematically appropriate.
