maybe, baekhyun isn’t actually useless in every single thing he does;
at least, he managed to figure out a certain pattern when it comes to a certain cat he more than often encounters around campus. okay, it’s not an actual pattern or something because it’s not always the same time or place that he sees it – it’s always somewhere else that he spots it, sometimes at noon, sometimes when he’s on his way back from getting a snack at the market in the afternoon, sometimes during the evening.
so, maybe, he’s useless after all.
but that’s not important, because there’s at least one time of the day where he manages to see the cat around the area the most and baekhyun guesses that’s when one of the familiars classes ends. he always tries to be around the school building at this time, eyes carefully scanning everywhere in hopes of finding the oh-so fluffy looking animal hopping through the orange leaves.
it’s different, though, today.
it’s not the usual time, actually morning and baekhyun’s hardly seen the animal anywhere near campus before in the early hours. but he spots it easily, looking up almost a little startled when he hears the rustling, the soft crunching of dry leaves underneath feet – or in this case, paws. and his eyes start twinkling with curiosity and also excitement.

baekhyun quickly hides behind a tree, every step carefully placed to not make any loud noises as he spies on the cat, not leaving it out of his sight. how could he? the fur is so beautiful, so soft looking and baekhyun wishes he could just scoop the animal up into his arms and bury his face in it. it’s like the most beautiful cat he’s ever seen and he finally wants to know whom out of the countless familiars in this school it is.
and he will, this time baekhyun will find out.
so, when the cat runs along, squeezing past the hedges lining along the walls of the class building, he’s quick to follow. very quiet, of course, so it won’t hear him.
