How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man
(Base/Memory Swap Headcanon) Being that this is a memory swap, whenever a hermit gains a memory from another hermit they give up one of their own in exchange. Just as Zed begins having nightmares about a bunny eared man he's never met Grian realizes for the first time in years he can look at a rabbit without being immediately filled with terror and dread, and can't even remember why he was afraid of them in the first place. At the same time Grian realizes he can barely remember the basic principles of architecture while Zed's been on a building/decorating spree in the mansion with his newly discovered building skills.
---------------------------------------------------
That's all well and fine, until Zed sits down and tries to recall what exactly a T flip flop is, anyway. Well, that's easy, that's the thing that switches a pulse to a...or is it the other way around...how did I build them before? Wait, why can't I remember...

everytime i draw this bunny bitch his eye lashes get longer
Grian is not afraid of rabbits. Not at all. Such a thing is truly foolish to think! In fact, Grian loves rabbits! He definitely doesn’t toss away an rabbit pelts he gets like they will burn him if they stay in his inventory. They just clog it up is all! He doesn’t refuse to eat cooked rabbit because it tastes like plastic, he simply prefers golden carrots. He doesn’t automatically sell all rabbit feet to his villager cleric because they make him tremble when he seems them, they are just such a good source of emeralds! Grian doesn’t get light headed when he sees someone put on a rabbit head he just turned to fast. He doesn’t avoid hunting them they’re just so hard to catch. Grian isn’t afraid of rabbits.
It's a good thing he can stay away from rabbits entirely, for the most part, on the server. Only because... they're just too easy to hurt is all! It definitely wasn't cathartic yet horrifying to see two little white faces, slightly stained from dirt and dust and ash, as slippers.

Grian is secretly very tall and lanky. Thanks to Watcher powers he has the ability to change his shape temporarily but eventually he will always revert back to his “true form”. The form that has not changed since his home universe died. When he was given immortality along with the other survivors, they all stopped aging and changing. Grian hates his true form because it reminds him of Sam and what he did. He hates ducking though doors, he hates looking like he hasn’t had a proper meal in weeks, he hates his arms being so weak from injuries that will never fade and malnutrition that he can hardly lift stone blocks. He hates that he has a light bruise on his cheek that will never, ever go away, he hates the feeling of his stomach cramping from eating plastic, he hates it all. He especially hates how young he looks, hates looking like a scared 16 year old who has been through to much hell to imagine. Only three hermits have seen his true form, all on accident. Mumbo, Xisuma, and Joe.
It's why he didn't trust Scar's "magic crystals"; he could feel them draining what little magic he had to maintain his preferred shape. The hermits that have seen the form don't talk about it. Mumbo did ask Grian about it a few times, reassuring him that he could talk about the form whenever he needed to. Xisuma and Joe had similar reactions: notice Grian's panic and immediately pretend they'd seen nothing, while subtlely offering support.

Idea for the codes thing; there is a subclass of codes, all starting with B (for Backstory,) specifically for when something related to a hermit’s backstory shows up on the server. There are codes in this category both for general stuff that can apply to these situations, such as B-101 (Unspecified hermit has a backstory that somehow relates to the current emergency situation and is willing to share,) B-102 (Unspecified hermit is acting strangely in response to a current emergency situation in a way that might have backstory reasons,) or B-105 (Some previously unknown entity connected to a hermit’s backstory has shown up on the server with malicious intent related to that backstory); however, some are more specific to certain hermit’s backstories (bear with me here, I don’t really know much abt any of the hermit’s lore except Grian) such as B-5903 (SamGladiator, from YHS, showing up out of the blue for some reason,) or B-5907 (the Watchers, from Evo SMP, showing up and causing trouble) (this can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what interpretation of the watchers you’re going with) (there are probably also several sub-codes to each of these to explain more specific details of the situation).
The thing is, Xisuma doesn't remember adding any of these codes. They just showed up one day in his documentation with no indication of how they got there. Nothing but the new entries, perfectly formatted, and a note that just said "I'm sorry, thank you".
He understands. The paragraphs of protocol related to the dreaded day when Evil Xisuma shows up again prove that he knows this special kind of anxiety. He says nothing to Grian. He leaves the codes in the register; a safeguard for a current fear more than for any future eventuality.

can you pls tag samgladiator? i'd appreciate it ❤️
I'm pretty sure any posts that mention him directly are tagged. I make an effort to do that, because I know a lot of people want to filter him. If there is a specific post where the tag has been missed, please DM me a link and I will fix it.
