Younger yandere is just swooning and gushing and love drunk with older darling, telling pretty much everyone in ear shot that they're romantically involved, meanwhile poor older darling is being accused of grooming while they're barely aware of what's going on.

It completely and utterly blindsides you. Because he doesn't say the name out loud, you're even more lost, but Crowley is assuming you know exactly what he's talking about.
Behind your back, Rook has been telling anyone willing to listen, and also those who aren't, about how in love the two of you are. How he's touched you, and has kept articles of your clothing. There are poems he's written about you being copied and shared around the school, that he shared with a few, but got spread around from there. Though Crowley knows all of this, and you don't, neither of you even know of the wall of pictures hidden underneath a layer of plaster, containing much more than mere words could convey.

I'm not sure if you caught it in the prologue but the reader actually joined public safety before aki! this makes his guilt for her a little weird; she got exploited completely separately to him.
in case you're curious, this was the sequence of events for her joining public safety (major fic spoilers) and getting groomed:
> reader gets adopted out of the orphanage and moves to tokyo by a seemingly lovely single father (he lost his kid due to the gun devil, misses being a dad hence the adoption)
> aki is still in hokkaido for school at this point, so they are separated
> reader's adopted father tries to sacrifice her to the heart devil; she makes a contract with the heart devil instead and kills him
> makima finds her, takes her in, and starts to groom her, thereby changing her as a person
> by the time aki gets to tokyo and joins public safety, the reader already feels like a different person to him. he is super horrified at what she has to do with her job, perceiving it as sex trafficking, but thanks to being groomed and her exposure to sex work at the orphanage, the reader doesn't see anything wrong with it. her relationship with her sexuality gets really distorted because of her work, which makes her vulnerable to himeno. this girl just wants to have consensual sex with someone who loves her and she thinks it'll be himeno but it's not.
so basically, it was entirely out of aki's control what happened to her. he just beats himself over it because he feels like he failed to protect her (triggers his inadequate older brother trauma/survivor's guilt) and strongly regrets letting her leave for tokyo. he's yandere as fuck toward her as the gun fiend and literally never lets her leave his sight btw
reading the tags and remembering that bluebird not only gets manipulated and groomed by makima but also by himeno as well. the difference in motivations between two different characters preying upon the same individual. can they let her breathe??
💔💔💔 it is really sad and feels like a lot but it's deadass because this mc is a foil to denji, and makima and himeno groom him for separate reasons as well 😭 I am perhaps biased and hashtag problematic for feeling this way, but mc's relationship with makima is actually genuinely really tragic. makima is initially doing it to control and manipulate the reader, but her existence is so lonely that she inevitably attempts to use the mc to fill an emotional void. sometimes you pick up a stray and even if it only ever gets to eat your scraps and never earns a spot in your bed, it still becomes your companion. for someone who's a loner, it's maybe the closest analogue they have to family. that is kind of what you are to makima.
himeno has sex with you purely to distract you from aki, which is much less complicated and emotionally involved on her end. but regardless of the motivations, both women do change you fundamentally as a person. into someone who feels so distant from aki, so much sadder than the girl he remembers, that he can't help but feel responsible.
I want to be groomed (as an adult lmao) by Lucifer so bad now it's unreal...
He encourages you to tell him your troubles, lets you know he'd never judge you - whatever you're going through he'll be here for you. Always so doting, so happy to help when you fall down. It's weird but it's not. An unusual relationship, but one that comes so natural for him it feels normal to you too.
Which makes it all the harder when he starts acting that wee bit weird. When you find yourself sharing and relying on him more than you ever should have gotten comfortable with and you realize far too late how hard it is to tell him no. How much you stand to lose. The power he holds over not only you but your peers and everyone you know too.
The weird, fatherly role he'd slipped into doesn't fade as his actions veer off the road of appropriateness. You're left reeling as he tells you how proud of you he is in a paternal voice while kissing along the backside of your neck. Scolding you for wandering into a dangerous part of Pride like you were some helpless child and then later that night pressuring you into sleeping next to him and being just a bit too touchy-feely while you're trying to sleep.
Ngl I think a degree of infatilization on his part would be kinda creepy-hot too.
