HONESTLY WHOSE REACTION TO THINKING THEY MIGHT HAVE DRUNKENLY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF SOMEONE IS TO PROPOSE MARRIAGE ON THE SPOT
For the dating ask, Yanagi or Van Helsing
Huh, this one’s actually kinda difficult because I’m not the biggest fan of either one of them on a personal level…
Overall, I’d say that I actually caught myself thinking of Yanagi as boring throughout all the routes in CxM, including his own, so… I’m inclined to choose Van Helsing, just because at least he made more of an impression on me. Even his unnecessary attempts to create the perfect romance for Cardia (in Future Blessings) strike me as much more manageable, and better timed/paced, than Yanagi’s declarations of undying love and subsequent marriage proposal about a month after meeting Ichika for the first second time.
Basically, if it’s a choice between a desire to settle down and a cold shoulder, I’ll take the cold shoulder. Sorry, family men. I hope you find what you’re looking for, but you’re not gonna find it with me.
I think the reason I appreciate certain kinds of borderline behavior in some characters (e.g. Shiraishi, Ukyo, Kazama) and hate it in others (e.g. Okazaki, Toma, Iba) is because of the way it’s presented. like if that behavior is openly acknowledged as crossing a line from the beginning, that’s different than if they try to pass off that behavior as attractive or romantic.
A few of my favorite one-liners from Collar x Malice.
*Yanagi voice* Shiraishi.
How about... choose between Saint or Shiraishi!
SHI-RA-I-SHI KA-GE-YU-KI! SHI-RA-I-SHI KA-GE-YU-KI—!
There’s a reason Shiraishi is third on my list of top ten personal favorite husbands and Saint-Germain is ninth. Like, I adore Saint-Germain, I really do, but I do so with the full awareness that I wouldn’t do such a great job of giving him everything he needs under my normal circumstances. I’ve been learning a lot over the past week or so about my responses to being placed on a pedestal. Namely, that it’s a very uncomfortable place and I don’t like having the weight of expectation on my shoulders, even if it’s unconsciously imposed. I can 100% confirm that I can’t deal with anyone to whom I am everything. I swear to God it’s a Leo thing.
As for Shiraishi… well, if it’s an either/or situation, he’s certainly the one for me. That said, due to the aforementioned series of learning experiences, I’m wary of shipping ‘broken’ people with the only person to whom they’re emotionally close, since friend groups and support networks are much more crucial to a person’s mental health than romantic relationships. But at least in Shiraishi’s case I’d have a fighting chance of laying out boundaries that are actually heeded, especially since I don’t think he has preconceptions of what a relationship should be. I’d have a great deal more freedom to continue being myself and not an idolized version of me, which is all-important to me.
Thanks for asking~
