↳ 6. What languages do they speak? Do they have any idiosyncrasies or identifiable patterns of speech, word usages, etc?
Sarah, canonically, only knows a minimal amount of German, as she chose it of the three languages she could take at the beginning of high school. I have a headcanon that she has a fascination with language later on as well, venturing into Irish and Latin, Spanish too. She loves trying to pronounce words she doesn’t know, and because she’s so headfirst she’s not nearly as embarrassed to mess up the pronunciation as she could be. In her own speech patterns, I don’t account for it, but Sarah does a lot of what I do, which is to say that she has some very long pauses preceded by an ‘um’ or a ‘so,’ in which she attempts to gather her thoughts for the next few sentences. I am extremely embarrassed by this, but Sarah is not so much, because she’s often not really thinking about anyone else’s approval outside of her mother’s, and maybe her closest friend’s.
↳ 8. Do they eat a healthy diet? A varied one?
Because Sarah’s in such a secure home, I believe she has at least three square meals per day. Are they much different though? Probably not. Her stepmother can’t cook anything outside of boiled chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli most nights, and it’s a miracle if there’s even just salt on any of it. Sarah despises home’s food, but she cannot manage to escape it because she’s not usually invited out to the diner down the street from her school after classes let out for the day. That’s usually where the juniors and seniors frequent, so it’s no wonder her scrawny sophomoric presence isn’t invited to tag along. Sure, it’s healthy for her to stay home because the food is as such, but is it varied? Not in the slightest.
