     she  glances  across  the hall -- she  can see so  clearly  the bones of      her childhood home.  the  polished  wooden  floors are the same ones      she slid  joyously across in  knee-high socks,  laughing  and  dragging      a  protesting   brother   by  the  hand.   there  are   considerably  more      inhabitants, though. more children just like her. that's good, she thinks.
