SONG LYRICS + CHARACTERS

Sometimes I listen to music, and sometimes those songs have lyrics. Without explaining myself any deeper, I will talk about three songs that have lyrics that remind me about Dabi some characters and give me feels, so let’s go.

1. Before I Forget by Slipknot

“Stapled shut, inside an outside world and I'm Sealed in tight, bizarre but right at home Claustrophobic, closing in and I'm Catastrophic, not again I'm smeared across the page, and doused in gasoline I wear you like a stain, yet I'm the one who's obscene Catch me upon all your sordid little insurrections I've got no time to lose, and I'm just caught up in all the cattle“

So, your Problematic Fav is the public enemy number one? They have their own motives, and these lyrics are all about that. Are they hurt, but still keep pushing forward ‘cause they believe that what they’re doing is the right thing to do.

Now, let’s cut to the chase ‘cause I got really tired of pretending that I’m not talking about my personal favorite, Dabi.

This song gives me some major Dabi feels. The dude is literally stapled shut, not to mention that this song has so much misunderstood antagonist energy. This is a song about Dabi. He’s at home (with the League) and ready to expose all the hero hypocrites even though he knows that he’s got his own weaknesses, and that might be a problem. But acknowledging this won’t stop him. He’s the world before he’s a man.

2. All I Need by Within Temptation

“Don't tear me down for all I need Make my heart a better place Give me something I can believe Don't tear me down You've opened the door now, don't let it close“

These lyrics suit every pairing if you like hurt/comfort, and I can prove it. Alright, who’s the most basic canon pairing you can think of? Something that absolutely everyone can name? I’m thinking about Arthur Weasley and Molly Weasley from Harry Potter. Now, we all know that Molly had two brothers who were killed during the time Voldemort was all powerful, and obviously, this left Molly really hurt, and she never spoke about her brothers again. Except maybe she did if Arthur/Molly is your thing! Arthur could’ve been the person who opened the door. But this works almost even better with a bit angstier pairings. Let’s take a well-known protagonist/antagonist pairing and see how well these lyrics work with them. Stucky? Totally works ‘cause Steve saved Bucky, and now they’re healing together. Stucky but with anime? Like.. KakaObi? Ahahaha, you can bet that this works with them two, they are the hurt/comfort incarnate. What about a villain/villain pairing? Let’s see.. ShigaDabi? Yeah, still working! They’ve been hurt in the past, and they’re not letting people get close to them. However, they have a lot of similarities, and they start to appreciate one another as allies soon after their first meeting. They just vibe with one another ‘cause they get one another. Their romance might start developing slowly given that they both have deep-rooted trust issues, but they’re already counting on one another in a battlefield. In this essay, I will-

3. Before I’m Dead by Kidney Thieves

“Moon hangs around A blade over my head Reminds me What to do before I'm dead Night consumes light And all I dread Reminds me what to do before I'm dead”

Sometimes all you need is a little bit of hope for your problematic favorite character. This song is all about that hope. Maybe your most beloved character is tryna overthrow the government, and you know that this isn’t gonna end well for them. However, you can get behind your fav’s motivations, so this is the jam that reminds you about the stuff your fav dumpster fire will achieve before they’re dead.

Whenever I listen to this song, I manage to convince myself that Dabi knows what he’s doing (he doesn’t, he’s being suicidal without admitting it) and that destroying the hero society is what he needs to do (and I stand behind this), so... That’s what he does before he’s dead - and then he and Shigaraki live happily ever after, ruling the new society they’ve built with the League.

I don’t usually write poetry, but I’ve been through some hard times lately, so here goes:

Blankets

Anyway, now that we’ve talked about music, we can talk about blankets next. Yes, you heard me, blankets.

I love them.

I’m actually wrapped in one right now. It’s light pink and it has these dark pink crowns on it. I don’t remember where I got it, but my personal favorite of all time. Sometimes I wrap myself in a gray blanket that’s usually on the couch just to be this decorative element in my house.

I’m too lazy to actually take any photo’s rn, but I’ll do it tomorrow.

I also had this absolutely amazing blanket that had some floral patterns in it, but time wasn’t too gentle for it, so big F.

MUSIC

I’ll talk about my music preferences while absolutely no one is listening.

Sometimes I listen to music.

Usually, I wear headphones, but when I’m alone, I might use my speakers. Or more like this one bluetooth speaker. I don’t know why I used plural in the first place ‘cause like, it’s a single speaker, okay? Keeping up? Like, I know this is the kinda content I must create to get visible, so we’ll be really tasty and elegant here.

Okay, so now we have stated that I do, indeed, listen to music, but I always don’t. In fact, I’m not listening it to right now because I’m focusing so hard to create extra good content.

I have favorite music, but I think it will have to wait for the time when I’m not invisible, so I’ll share the most annoying song I ever know.

That would be You’re Beautiful by James Blunt. There are no screeching human puppy sounds, nor are there drilling noises, and sure, this song lack the tunes of a recorder choir, too, but otherwise, it has every sound that I detest. Every time that song plays, you think like for a sec that this is gonna be that other (actually ok) 2005 hit, but no, you’ll get so disappointed when you realize that instead of electric guitar, you hear good old James and his mid-tempo cacophony.

I think that if You’re Beautiful was a color, it would be really uninspiring Urban Decay lipstick shade 1993.
