Little stones from deep under Formed deep inside the earth's crust, these pretty little gems were brought up to the surface by volcanic eruptions associated to the formation of the Western Branch of the Rift Valley, to end up in the streams of Western Rwanda's hills

This picture was taken as part of Rwandan fashion designer Mizero Cedric’s (@cedric250) inspiring ‘Fashion for All’ project. In Gishoma, Mizero’s home village, we met with his 52 year old neighbour and close family friend, Budesiyana, also known as Tika, whom he has known since the age of 8. Gishoma is a small village in Western Province of Rwanda (close to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi) where people live off agricultural activities. In spite of economic challenges, Mizero cherishes Gishoma for the feeling of happiness he founds being surrounded by nature and with his loved ones. With this project, this promising young designer wishes to show people who are not not usually expected to be part of the mainstream fashion industry. «I am so proud to share my ideas with people all over Rwanda. It is my way to give back to my country. Fashion should never be limited to a certain age, size, social or economic status», as he puts it.
