🚨 PSA: TUMBLR WILL NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER ASK YOU TO VERIFY ON DISCORD 🚨
(I swear to God, if one more scam gremlin tries me, I’m throwing hands.)
Hi babes. Gather ‘round.
Apparently I’m on some scammer’s “she posts a lot, let’s ruin her day” vision board, so let’s get this out of the way.
If you get a DM saying something like
“Your blog has been reported. Verify with TumblrStaff#88238 on Discord.”
Or my personal fave, “I’m so sorry I accidentally reported you, your account looks like….”
Listen to me very carefully.
It is a SCAM.
Not a cute scam.
Not a subtle scam.
Not a “fell out of a dumpster wearing a tie it stole from Spirit Halloween” scam.
Tumblr Staff will never, and I cannot emphasize this enough
Never contact you through DM
ask you to verify through Discord
threaten to delete your account
use names like tumblr.support.admin.help_mod69
or type like an AI bot having a stroke on its lunch break.
The ONLY way Tumblr staff contacts you is through email.
That’s it.
Game over.
End scene.
Roll credits.
These Discord verification idiots target
active blogs
fandom blogs
writers
artists
people who log in daily
basically anyone with a pulse and a profile pic
They’re banking on you panicking.
They’re hoping you’ll fold like wet cardboard.
Do. Not. Fold.
I’ve blocked so many of these things I should get a union card.
At this point I’m practically the bouncer at the Tumblr door like
“Not with those shoes, sweetheart. Try Facebook.”
🚫 If you get one of these DMs
Block → Report → Hydrate → Move on.
✔ If you’re unsure
Screenshot it → Ignore it → Ask literally any functioning human being.
And for the love of Obi-Wan Kenobi,
DO NOT go to Discord to “prove” anything.
The only thing you’re proving is that you fell for the digital equivalent of someone in a parking lot saying
“Hey kid, wanna buy some admin privileges?”
Stay safe. Stay feral. Stay unbothered.
Stay hydrated.
And if a bot tries you?
Tell it to go verify itself.
unless it already deleted its account when you called it out.
which honestly? slay.)
