I want to spread awareness about the scams that have been going around Tumblr taking advantage of innocent people’s suffering.

These scams operate by finding GoFundMe’s and copy-pasting the stories onto a tumblr post where they will link their PayPal account at the bottom for people to send money too.

They’ll send out DMs and messages to people’s inboxes asking them to donate saying that the donation link is in the pinned post.

These scam blogs are always just a few days or weeks old and they retweet pro-Palestinian posts to make themselves look more legitimate. If you attempt to confront them about it they will instantly block you.

I’ve received a large amount of these scam messages in the past week, a few of which had a concerning amount of notes, and want to raise people’s awareness that way they people who actually need help can receive it.

i’ve been hacked on that account (in part due to my own stupidity; i fell for a scam and have reported it to tumblr)

i just wanted to come on here and make this post (i’m going to tag a handful of people who followed me on that account and would appreciate a reblog if you feel so inclined) in case the scammers try to reach out to anyone else using my account; i don’t want anyone else falling for this or anything similar, especially as the scammer asked for my banking information (luckily i did not comply with this and instead reported their account to discord, where we had communicated.)

someone (@/vividtss) reached out via tumblr to inform me that they, along with some friends, reported my blog for scamming/phishing unintentionally due to a mixup between my blog and another. they told me that they had informed tumblr that it was a mistake, but in order to get the issue ironed out i should reach out to a tumblr admin via discord or whatsapp; i, unfortunately, did so, along with complying with all of their requests up until they asked for my banking information to “prove” i had not been involved in any scams or phishing. in doing so, i ended up giving them access to my account and they, in turn, locked me out. i have reported this to tumblr, but im not sure if/when/how this will be resolved.

if you receive messages from @tfbfanboydyke from now (Sunday 24th 2026, 21:45 UK time) please be aware that that is NOT me and is in fact a scammer using my account. additionally, any posts made or reblogged on that blog are not my own.

i’m now going to just tag every blog i have email confirmation of following @tfbfanboydyke in hopes to prevent potential further scams and let everyone know that THIS is my new blog! please feel free to unfollow or block my old blog.

i don’t know if it’s actually relevant, but as an autistic person i can be more vulnerable to falling for scams and have a harder time keeping myself safe online; this is not to paint all autistics with the same brush, but i personally do feel my autism impacts me in this way. it’s frankly vile how predatory scammers online can be, and this has certainly been a learning experience for me; i hope that by posting this, even one other person potentially targeted by the same tactics can be spared this anxiety and distress. thank you to anyone who reblogs or even reads this.
