Something in the vent clanged and rattled as his foot bumped into it, cursing himself silently. He was employed by the Nova Corps, but it was an unwritten rule that he should never just walk in, as his presence was unsightly (and conspicuous). 

So he had to find some new strange, barely-functional way into the building every time, since the passages would get blocked off as he discovered them. He reached out and sent out a pulse, scanning for any signs of life. When the scan results came back negative, Erik kicked the vent open and dropped down in a woosh of black fabric, falling down to dangle just at his calves. It left only his ‘face’ (really a helmet) and legs exposed, which was convenient.

He was almost impressed with himself when he snapped out of it and realised that there was someone in the room with him. Someone not human(oid). It couldn’t be her. A quick second to focus on her facial features confirmed what he had known all along. It wasn’t her - she was gone.

The Revenant slowly turned around and cocked his head at the android, blatantly staring.

“We have androids now?”
