writing ask, 11-14. There were a bunch of other really interesting ones but I didn't want to flood you, lol
You can always flood me with questions! I love them. But if you start to ask me about my writing, I may never shut up.
What were your favorite books as a child?
I devoured the Redwall series by Brian Jacques as a child. I also read almost all of the Animorphs series. When I was even younger than that, the Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew were my favorites. I read all of the Misty of Chincoteaque and the other stories about the wild ponies, too.
Do you read while writing, or try to split it up?
I don’t have a problem reading and writing at the same time. I need to read more, though. I have a library beckoning me upstairs. I did get History of the World in 6 Glasses for Christmas that I can’t wait to crack open. I love microhistories.
Which authors or styles do you try to emulate in your writing?
I don’t consciously try to emulate anyone in particular, and I feel like my writing style is changing constantly, based on what genre I’m writing in. Maybe someone else can answer this for me. Which author do I remind you of?
Would you want your books to be made into a TV show or movie? Why or why not?
I go back and forth on this. I think it really depends on the book—some of them would work better for that type of media. That being said, I would very much like to be a part of the creative process. I have heard (and seen) a lot of productions that ended up going too far from the book, or losing the heart of it in the interest of quick action.
