It wasn’t something so easily forgotten, no. How could they be? Especially when they constantly plagued his mind. This reminder, if it was supposed to be one or not, he couldn’t tell, was unneeded from the Ignis. He knew the sins he carried and the weight of them. And he would do all he could to repent- in his own way.

“Is this the reason you revealed yourself?” He asked. “If that was all, you should have kept yourself hidden.”

Again. Another week had passed without them being able to find any trace for Yusaku. Or more... without him finding anything. In all honesty Ryoken wasn’t even sure if the others were still searching. Well he wouldn’t doubt Kusanagi. But Soulburner never really had the know how for a search like this and the rest of Hanoi as well as the Zaizen’s probably had other things in mind right now. 

Maybe it was the point where Ryoken no longer could deny that he actually cared about the missing teen. Probably always had. Part of him had been aware of that rather soon though. His obsession once he figured out Playmakers identity probably had been prove enough but still... 

Part of him was trying to make himself believe he was just searching for the younger teen because they still had a score to settle. He was ignoring the fact that it yet again had been him who had said farewell to the younger one to begin with though. 

Maybe it was his own fault that he couldn’t find any trace of Yusaku now. Because the other one didn’t want to be found by him. 

Closing his eyes for a moment he took a deep breath. If it really was like that... if Yusaku really didn’t want to be found... Ryoken had no doubt he wouldn’t be able to come close to him. After all the other one had managed to hide his past between the Lost Incident and appearing back in Den City already... he probably went back to the place where he had lived in that time for all he knew. 

In the end he couldn’t even say what exactly caught his attention. But something, some kind of feeling caused him to open his eyes again and the first thing he could spot was a rather familiar Ignis on his duel disk. 

“Hu? Well that’s a new one.” he commented and for a moment he wasn’t sure if this was a joke and if he was supposed to laugh about it. 

“I thought you’re already gone. Do you want to die this badly, Dark Ignis?”  @cyberseignis​

 “Ugh. This virtual reality is rather...difficult for me to master.” entering into another dimension due to his own patron taking control of where he’s going.

Orochi wasn’t like other ignis. He wasn’t even exactly like his own kind. He was based on a wyrm and seemed to have extracted their core traits. The ability to regenerate and the ability to spit toxic or rather, viruses.

He was careful in his ways unlike most too, staying hidden in Hart Corp’s systems as he observed Link VRAINS. Plotting the perfect time to strike... Yet he had to admit that he was surprised when he had bumped into what was supposed to be dead on the way back from a short stroll in the corners of the network. 

He was searching for something, but not this.

"Ah, I thought the Test-Runs had all met their ends."

“Oh! Sorry. I didn’t realize there was already someone in here.” Ai says poking his head out of the TV. He thought this was a empty part of the network. Wait. This didn't seem to be part of Link Vrains at all!

Quietly Kisara played on her own, when it happened.

Now Kisara was no stranger to the weird and abnormal, odd things seemed to happen to or around her all the time. At first she thought it was the start of a weird new show when the image appeared but the T.V. had been turned off right? Whatever was going on she knew she’d get blamed for it.

Without warning the image popped right out of the screen

Kisara shrieked,“Monster!” Quickly she scrambled to distance herself from whatever ‘it’ was.

She had seen many odd and often creepy looking creatures appear in all sorts of places. Crawling the walls, flying around, hiding in bushes or in the shadows even sitting on top of the T.V. but never, never had anything popped out of it before.

Frightened blue eyes stared back at the strange purple and yellow creature, hugging tight to her plush rabbit. Would it hurt her? What was it?

And had it just talked? None of the creatures she’d seen had talked to her.

If Playmaker was honest to himself he had to admit that he was tired. And while someone probably could easily argue with the fact that he was just lacking a lot  sleep it was running deeper, on a level most wouldn’t even care to think about. 

Yusaku wasn’t unfamiliar to loss. While he barely could remember his real family and cut ties to his found one he had lost a lot people in his short life already. Some by his own choice, some totally out of his control. Being forced to be the reason of this loss like it just had been with Kusanagi-san was something new though. And he still wasn’t sure how to deal with it when the Ignis appeared in his point of view. 

Actually he wasn’t even in any position where he could say he cared about it. He was tired and he didn’t want to deal with this. With nothing of this mess. Not about the fact that most of their team was already gone. Not that he had been forced to kill the one person that had become something like his family. Not with the fact that Soulburner was currently in a duel with Bohman that he most likely couldn’t win. 

“I don’t.” he replied eventually, eyes still on the ground. It was the truth though. He wasn’t fearing death. Dying probably would mean that he would finally be able to find peace. No more pain, fear, responsibility. 

Actually it sounded like a dream right now. 

Just that Ai wasn’t that happy with those words though if his expression was anything to go by. But for now the little Ignis stayed silent and somehow Playmaker was glad for it. 

“And you?” Playmaker eventually found himself asking. It wasn’t like he was interested in any deep meaning full conversation right now. Actually he just wanted to pass out again to rest a little bit longer but that wasn’t any option either right now. “Do you fear death? Is that the reason why you’re acting like this?”

“P-Playmaker…”

No, this wasn’t right. Ai had caused his partner so much pain, and yet… he was offering to help. To put himself on the line again, for the sake of a couple of terabytes of code. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, this was why the dark Ignis did what he did. He couldn’t bear to watch this cycle repeat, again and again. He couldn’t risk Yusaku dying.

“No… please don’t. This isn’t your responsibility. Just let me sneak off to a corner of the network and live a quiet life, just as you said I should. Just… just forget about me, Playmaker.”  || @cyberseignis​

The other one was right. It originally had been his idea for the Ignis to hide somewhere in the network to be able to have a quiet life. But after everything... Playmaker had found himself in a position where he couldn’t let go of the other one. Couldn’t forget about the other one. His friend. His partner. 

From the moment Ai had turned against them he hadn’t help but wonder about the reason why, buying the reasons the AI had stated not for one second. It wasn’t till their final duel that he learned about the real motivation between the others doings. About Ai’s real feelings. 

And it had caused him to start searching for him for over six months now, leaving behind everything and everyone he had been able to connect to. It was kinda hypocrite how he had talked about bonds so much and then went ahead leaving those that had become his friends. Playmaker wasn’t even sure if they were still waiting for him to come home but... without Ai home wouldn’t be the same anyways. 

“I can’t forget about you Ai.” he replied in the end. Voice quiet as he was rather sure that if he would speak up louder Ai would be able to see right through him. Be able to hear the pain about losing him. The fear of losing him again. 

“I know you’re scared because of those simulations but... we can work on them not becoming reality. They’re nothing more than data. You never once believed the simulations Dr. Kogami or Lightning had felt for so... why are you making the same mistake they did now as well?”

‘Why are you going so far for me?’ was what he really wanted to ask but.. he already knew the answer to that question. Ai already had told him with his dying words.

He’d always loved the sound of a storm. No matter how bad his memory became, or how horrible of a day he’d had to deal with, relaxing by his window to listen to the winds and rain against the glass was something he’d never forgotten - And the low, distant rumbles of thunder only made it even better. It was like nature itself had heard the storm in his own heart and claimed it, letting it out for him...

But it was the flickering of his nearby laptop that finally dragged his attention away from the storm, curiosity shining bright in his eyes. He had to be seeing things... Wasn’t his laptop off? It was late; he’d never leave it on past 11 unless he couldn’t sleep, a cautious finger reaching out to run across the button. Definitely not lit up, so no power, and yet...

“....I’m even starting to see things now, aren’t I? How’s something unpowered... Suddenly get static...?”
