Fun Local things to do
The weekends are times for us to get out and about, both near and far. A few miles down the road from us is Veterans' Park. It's only small, but we thought we'd check out the trail there even though we knew it was only a couple of miles. Better a few miles on wheels, than an afternoon on the settee!
The sky was rather grey, but the birds were chirping, the trees surrounded us and the fresh air filled my lungs as we pedalled the trail. On our way, we heard a very strange noise and stopped to listen. A passer by informed us it was frogs and there were rather a lot of them hidden in the grass edge of a trickle of a stream.
Our cycle was only about seven miles, but it was great to be out on the bike.
In the evening, following a trip to Lidl, to squeeze in our shopping, we dropped into Carolina Ale House - a sports bar with reasonable food and a good atmosphere.
Our Sunday adventure consisted of a rainy morning trying to find a breakfast stop in Midtown Charlotte. Unfortunately, everyone in Charlotte had the same idea and we were at the end of the queue! We ended up in Harris Teeter instead, having a Starbucks and a muffin. Following this, we parked up outside the venue for the ice hockey. We had tickets for the minor league Charlotte Checkers. It was a fun game, unfortunately they lost, but it was entertaining to watch.
