I attempted something today that I knew I probably couldn’t do but thought I’d try if the conditions were right. I was super lucky with the weather (no rain) and the roads were smooth (except about 10 muddy construction zones). The ride consisted of a 1500+meter climb in the first 80km and no comparable downhill, just some rolling mountain passes for a total of 135km. In the end it took me almost 5 hours to complete the 30km straight climb up (including breaks) which didn’t leave me enough daylight to complete the ride. I went through some mental shit on that climb and saw some gorgeous scenery. I’m so glad I did it and am not disappointed. The temperature at the bottom went as high as 40 degrees and now it’s about 18 after dark at the top. I sweat so much my socks were turning dark, my eyes were stinging, I had to just breathe and keep my form and stay focussed to stay safe. This is the Mu waterfall, which was up a huge switchback climb then down a rough loose rocky descent. Totally worth it. And there was no one else around, which is basically the first time I’ve been alone this whole trip! #cyclevietnam #muwaterfall (at Tự Do, Lạc Sơn, Hoà Bình)
