I'm curious to know, do you have any favorite characterizations of any Transformers characters in any official media?
Ah, difficult question. Is like when they asking me "what's your fave character" or "what's your favourite ship" and I reply "It depends" XD But, since the question is quite specified, I can actually try to put a list: not really a ranking but more a "I really like these ones and I can't really decide". (Note, I haven't play the games and I still havent' read anything from Marvel and Dreamwave) -SG Soundwave (IDW): If I really have to choose a top of the tops, probably is IDW SG Soundwave. Is such inspirational character, the one who kept together and helped everybody even that things fallen apart hard. And the hero's bandana is icing on the cake.
-Soundwave (IDW, G1): THE MAMA\PAPA. I love Soundwave bc he cares a lot of his cassettes and IDW characterization is very peak: he's a devoted to the original core of Decepticons cause and his communist inclination also quite stike me XD.
-Starscream (Skybound, Armada, Prime): Starscream is clearly one of my fave (probably the first one I started recognize aside Optimus when I started watching Transformers XD) because he really represents the concept of "I don't have to behave, I have to touch the stars" which actually had a big impact on me. .I really liked Skybound Starscream because is a adult and harsh version of the G1: a normal person that was pushed to his limits (gone mad as fuck) and, somehow was still fighting. Peak. .Starscream Armada: I really hoped that actually he stayed with the autobots... but Armada serie got so many problems (even more than Prime XD) that I can't say is a good written charater. He has anyway that "Dark Knight" vibes that I loved (and the "I never received a gift" thing melted me). Many good writing ideas that could be wrote much better (even in the original jap). .Prime: THE GUILTY PLEASURE. Ofc, I know that this Starscream is nerfed af, but how cannot you love this guy? The lunatic mosquito on heels... and THE VOICE. OoOOF. (Also here I so much hoped that in Triangulation passed to Autobots T_T Strong delulu vibes). (PS YES OFC I ALSO LOVE SG STARSCREAM IDW. HURT AND NO COMFORT ANYWHERE.)
-Optimus|Orion (Prime, IDW, TFOne) . Even that my first impact with Optimus was Armata, I think that "my" Optimus is from Prime: I love the idea that was a mere data clerk TvT. He gives so much "I'm caring of all of you""I want to believe in the good side" vibes even when is really, really hard (also love when cleary got mad and go full berserk- the matrix kicks in- while fighting but since he's very calm nobody from Autobots side never think of that). .IDW Optimus hurted me to many different level and I really love all his journey in search of himself after Cybetron was repopulated. .How much is beautiful Orion Pax in TFOne? Surely D-16 revolution will massacrate his behaviour, but I love that young bot and I still somehow hope that there going to be something more after TFOne.
-Shockwave (IDW) OHHHH, where I should start? Shockwave plot is a multiple stabbing to my poor heart and I multiple stopped reading to take time. The Empurata hits hard, the "Remember me for who I was" hit harder and "The mech you used to know doesn't exist anymore" finally massacrated me. Peak.
-Megatron (TFOne, MTMTE) .Everybody loves TFOne D-16. Because his angry is so much justified. SO MUCH. He was one of the most careful, observant and loyal... his fall hurts harder than any other Megatron has been written (I put an extra cutie D16 to make all of you feel worse about him). .I love the IDW MTMTE Megs narrative arc on Lost Light. The realization of what Megs did, all he then tried to do to make amends... knowing that nothing actually would undo his actions or would give him peace. ARGH TvT (And after all I think that the original Decepticon cause is right) (Also Skybond Megs is well written and a adult extremized version of G1 which I appreciate).
-Ultra Magnus/ Minimus Ambus (MTMTE) PPL THE CONCEPT OF THE BIG STRONG ROBOT THAT IS ACTUALLY A SMALL ROBOT (Plus Rung writing about Cybetronian frames became bigger and more aggressive to face the war, PLUS Megs that said to him "You are bigger without that armour"). SBROTFL.
-Swerve: (IDW) I felt like him for most of my life. The side character clown that hits hard as a shovel right in the face. -Grimlock (G1): IS THE CORE OF IDEA OF A ROBOT T-REX. HE'S SO STUPID AND LOVELY I LOVE A GIANT T-rex MADE OF STEEL. ME, GRIMLOCK! RAWR! -Thundercracker (IDW): THE ''CON THAT LOVE EARTH. He watch, he write, he actually protects earth and has a dog (which is his most precious darling thing). How can't you love this guy!?
-Ratchet (IDW, Prime): The grumpy doctor with a golden heart (and the sassy touch). IDW narrative killed me hard ( poor husband Drift :/ ). -RUNG RUNG RUNG RUNG RUNG (GODDAMMIT GOD FORGOT HIMSELF)
-Cyclonius (MTMTE) LOOK AT HIM! HE AND HIS GRUMPY FACE, HIS COSTIPATED EMOTIONS LOCKED INSIDE THAT EVIL SAMURAI FRAME. HE CAN'T EVEN CRY. -WHIRL (MTMTE, Cyberverse) The desperation vibes of Whirl, the one who's sure that he will never be happy, never have what he wants, never be again what he had. And still in the deep he can manages to find some spark (the "baby", Cyclonius...). And I liked him also in Cyberverse... he made my laugh. -PERCEPTOR (IDW, Cyberverse) .Cyberverse:HE GOT BLIND AND HE WAS FINE WITH THAT. .IDW: WTF so cool while becaming a frikking sniper (even that his mental health lowered so much ç__ç ) -Prowl (IDW) Peak psychopath

Note: I don't like almost noone Elita-One written XD. I think my fave is actually from Earthspark (Love when she meets Prowl and literally lift him), but I think that she's always treated superficially. In G1 appears, give ints of great powers like Optimus, disappear. Forever. Bye Fembots. Cool in IDW, depicted like a ferocious warrior but I was still hoping for an Elita that actually is... a person? I'm not sure I'm appreciating Elita in Skybound, even that her reason are clear (and IDW vibing somehow), I probably just waiting for an Elita-One that is actually a good and\or a real person. As for now, Elita looked for me or the super woman style (perfect agent, super strong, super cool, super beautiful, an idealized fem) or a bloodthirsty warrior that only search revenge or conquer. (And that's why I liked more Earthspark Elita, even that she almost doesn't have characterization :/ )
