Sector and home. Sector 001, Matoi Ryuko’s House Position. Sergeant; any sector is fine If applicable, what skills/abilities do you possess that we should know about? No hiding anything. Include weaponry and anything of the sort. No ability but owning a BB Gun which shoots sewing needles. Have you had experience with this sort of thing before? If so, how extensive? I was part of the army a few years ago before joining my former task as a scientist.  For what purpose do you want to join? Probably to get useful. But also to help the city and the citizens of course. Would be a shame if crimes would happen and no one’s looking at it. Finally, if you could rate your abilities and capacities on a scale of one to ten, and say what specifically you’d be able to assist in, that will conclude your application. I don’t have any specific ability but physical strength— which I rate with a 8.

the shell of the egg fell away, crumbling to the same fragile state as the composed mask she wore. and, like the swathed bundle sitting within the remains of the golden shell, the young woman's face had twisted into something entirely unexpected -- a perfect reflection of shock. as new birth's lungs filled with its first gasps of fresh air, breathing now not the water of the womb but the fumes of disparity and toxicity that the city came to symbolize, ryuko found herself drawing air into her lungs to let out a wail.

it came out as more of a yelp, but there -- in the middle of her home, she'd let out a loud cry, her brows furrowing at odd angles and her eyes bugging from their sockets, for this was entirely unexpected, out from left field.

and shortly after her own outburst, the child before her -- a miniature version of herself, a fresh newborn safe from her mother's influence -- that remarkably human child let out an inhuman sort of wail, finally releasing that large breath she'd drawn in. 

and ryuko did not know whether or not to cry right along with the child, for before her she saw herself, an innocent baby reflection of herself untarnished by the world, before she'd been swathed in life fibers and given a mother's kiss of death. this was her, just a baby, not a vagabond or a vagrant, but an embodiment of everything she used to dream of -- a fresh start.

spring really was a time of new beginnings.

she took a breath, and with tender, unsure hands, she picked up the child before her and cradled her younger self in her arms. she was unsure of herself, with trembling hands and the fleeting anxieties of the life of motherhood she'd secretly always dreamed of, but as she calmed the child with a cooing voice and a shaky touch, the look on her face softened, her eyes honeyed in their gaze.
