Jia being bored was never a good thing. Her boredom led her to perform slight criminal acts like hacking into a cellphone company's database and stealing numbers of celebrities and leaving them messages from a payphone. Another boredom hobby of hers was to anonymously chat to others long enough to learn their location. At the moment she was away from her impressive set up of computers and sitting in a library idly thumbing through 'HTML: FOR DUMMIES', amusing herself when her boredom struck.
Why was someone like Jia who was usually in a dark room staring at computer screens at the library? When she had left China for South Korea to become the director over the branch Meng Zi Jia had promised her parents that she would go outside at least once everyday. She agreed, as long is they left her alone. Currently, it was the weekend and a few high school students were working on a project. They were using the Micro Film machine to look at old articles and Jia had an idea.
She took up the other machine, bobbing her head when the students noticed her and searched the archives for any technology related companies. Most of the articles were about the establishment of companies, and others about the men who started the company passing away, getting married, being accused of fraud, and their illnesses, only 3 of the articles grabbed her. One was about the strange death of one founder, the second was about her father, and the last about a Jung Taekwoon who made an impression with his violin solo at orchestra performance. She had heard of the Jung Family, the archives were full of their family business, and she quickly calculated at how old this Jung Taekwoon would be: 23, a year younger than her. Jia gathered up her things and arrived at her apartment in 10 minutes, she was winded and her body ached, but she was home now and her fingers itched for her keyboard.
She woke up her computer and quickly searched for one Jung Taekwoon. Obviously, she started by looking into the Jung family and then their company. After a certain point Taekwoon stopped appearing in public pictures, and Jia knew that somehow he wasn't a part of the family anymore. Was he an illegitimate child? Was he diagnosed with some disease? Was he dead? She dug a little deeper and while searching through images found one of a young man with a violin playing in Hongdae. Two things popped into her head simultaneously, one: this was Taekwoon, and two: He was disowned.
Jia saved the image, opened up her photo editing software and enlarged the picture as much as she could, searching for clues. The picture was a recent one, that was for sure. There was no logo on anything she could see, his clothes were definitely ragged, further solidifying her theory. After staring at every pixel of the picture for 20 minutes, Jia angrily closed the software and smacked herself. The source! The picture was posted by someone and that someone would have a source. She snapped back to the image and clicked on the link and arrived onto the blog of a Seoul University student. Jia grinned for the second time and shot out of her chair. She found him.
From Jia's apartment in Gangnam, Seoul University was only across the bridge. If she left now she would be there just in time for class to be over and she could possibly catch him. Jia burst out of her apartment and hailed a cab. While the driver took her to the University Jia mentally reviewed the information she gathered and played out the different ways she could approach him and what to say to the things he would reply with. Before she knew it, she had arrived and she tossed a wad of bills at the driver and ran down to the gates of the college, already searching for Jung Taekwoon.
